EDIT#2: Hrmpf: Download-Error of two files and alle WUs reported as "Download Error" - i am out of luck...

After deleting my app_info.xml, restarting BOINC and allowing EAH to fetch work I got these messages as well. I selected what application? Can I select an application then? Where? ;-)

Not in the normal place where one would do this...

Yes, Bernd said the skygrid-partitioning will be the same in S5R4.

S5R4 differences: the use of "weights" in the analysis (if I understand this correctly, it's about taking into account that the IFOs are not equally sensitive in all directions).

Also the data reported back was extended, probably making postprocessing easier. Neither of these changes should influence runtime a lot, tho.

Early indication on my AMD 3500+(SSE capable) is much longer runtimes. Where running 4.46 before having times between 7-9.5h. Now indication point att 14h, possible it will drop some.
Both S5R3 and S5R4 choosing SSE capable app.

RE: As well as the file

As well as the file names, could somebody post the expected file sizes, please, for checking?

These are the file sizes as displayed to the DOS box dir command on my Windows98SE host:

einstein_S5R4_6.04_windows_intelx86.exe 81,938
einstein_S5R4_5.09_0_windows_intelx86.pdb 2,313,216
einstein_S5R4_5.09_1_windows_intelx86.pdb 2,329,600
einstein_S5R4_6.04_windows_intelx86_0.exe 2,949,120
einstein_S5R4_6.04_windows_intelx86_1.exe 2,949,120
einstein_S5R4_6.04_graphics_windows_intelx86.exe 376,832

In addition I got files presumably specific to my assigned work:

a 64,085 byte skygrid file
10 l1_* and h1_* files totalling 40,500,400 bytes

These all came in response to a first request. The request was for 3552 seconds of new work on a slow host (930 MHz Coppermine). The Task tab in BOINCmgr (after I suspended SETI) says that I am running h1_0183.10_S5R4__15_S5R4a_1 and does not show any other Einstein tasks.

As before, there is a long startup delay after the task starts running before BOINCMgr shows progress--on my Coppermine 930 MHz it was a little over 7 minutes, but it is showing progress now.

My other client at work is fed with S5R4-WUs.
Projected 2 hrs 37 mins 14 sec, first WU is at 11% now with 94 mins 30 sec duration. Would be 56700 sec extrapolated and hence almost dubled runtime.
My mother got one S5R4-WU also, a bit to my surprise because i thought she is using app_info.xml... ?:/

I've published app_info.xml

I've published app_info.xml files for both Windows and Linux that will give you dual S5R3/S5R4 capability. Check them out in the new sticky thread. I've actually tested them both and they work for me.

Cheers,
Gary.

Thank you very much for doing that, and the very clear instructions on how to do it! I did that for my Windows installation, and my S5R4 started up again with no problem! :)

At least the graphics are now

At least the graphics are now fixed. I can see more than just the Einstein logo under BOINC 6. On both machines (meaning it isn't the video card's fault ;-))

Uh-oh! The predicted time

Uh-oh!

The predicted time of computation is a little over 1 hour. Looks like it will be more like 15-16 hours.

Jim

EDIT: Error on the arithmetic. Looks more like an 8 hour run.
