One has to be a bit careful here, since max temp as per spec depends on th stepping:

The older B3 stepping is spec'ed at 62.2°C ( http://processorfinder.intel.com/Details.aspx?sSpec=SL9UM )

But you seem to have a newer G0 stepping (CPUID : 06FBh), with a "thermal specification" of 71°C . see http://processorfinder.intel.com/Details.aspx?sSpec=SLACR

Do you, or anyone else, know if the thermal spec temp of 71°C, is overall, or cpu core temp.
Under Windows, using PCWizard, I record Processor temp (34) and each core (38 to 46) when crunching units.

Using the "MLCC" (mandriva linux control center), I have found and installed "lib64lm_sensors3-2 10 5-1mdv2007 x86_64" on both puters, but I don't see them under any menu.

Also the lm sensors site says if I've already configured lm sensors to run

su
sensors-detect

and doing that yields:

[astro@localhost ~]$ su
Password:
[root@localhost astro]# sensors-detect
bash: sensors-detect: command not found
[root@localhost astro]#

Yes Brian I did ages ago but could not work out how to make it work, I still have the downloaded tar.gz file for version 2.10.3. I might give it another go now that I know just a little bit more about Linux than I did then (a very small little bit more that is, working out how to unpack a file still has me scratching my head).

It has already been linked, and the consensus view is that is only a problem for those that have done a cpu upgrade using an oldish motherboard. The older motherboards do not have the power capacity thru their voltage regulators to maintain sufficient power on to the third cpu (core 2).

Update: My RAC at EAH is

Update:

My RAC at EAH is rising.
I've had to turn the OC on the 9600 back to 201x13 or 2.613 Ghz.
I've managed to get the 6600 up to 2.9 after figuring out I should leave everything on "Auto", and only adjust the multi and fsb. More OC on this is probably possible. Just not done yet.

I am thinking of trying the EPP memory timings and voltage, rather than starting from the SPD timings.
