I wonder would a SSSE3 optimized version improve times any more? I run a SSSE3 optimized s@h app and its around 25-40% faster (depends on angle ranges) than the standard app.

See Message # 81998 ..

Yep, I predicted that question would be asked... LOL

:-) one would hope ... :-)

Hi, my english is not very

Hi, my english is not very good and maybe I not understand something about appz "einstein_S5R3_4.36_windows_intelx86.zip" found on Power User section. Normally I have good skill in computer but for that something doesnt work :P

This appz is suppose to upgrade something or optimize computing of einstein in normal use or its only for beta testing ?

I try it on my computer and the process close a second after execution.. and its corrupt my einstein project on my boinc client, force me to detach and re-attach the project on my boinc client.

Thanks for your comprehension ;)

Mike

My config:
Processor
AMD Athlon 64 3000+ (venice) at 2250Mhz [support:SSE,SSE2,SSE3]
2048 MB of memory
[EDIT]run on windows server 2003 R2 enterprise service pack 2
BOINC Manager 5.10.45 ([EDIT] boinc run as services)
Application on einstein project are (i think) run on version 4.26

/snip

It is for normal computation of work, only faster than the stock application. Work units that complete with the "power" apps will (should) validate when paired with a user that is using a stock app. (or a combination of two different power user apps, Windows paired with MacOS PPC for example.) In a sense it is kind of a beta test also, at least when a new application is released. Most have been ok with validation and no untoward errors.

Until recently I was using

Until recently I was using the optimised 4.26 version, but swapped my dual P3 and dual Prestonis Xeon to the 4.36 version.

Crumbs - the code is quick on both rigs compared both the stock and the 4.26 versions.

I calculate the results are coming off 48% faster on my dual P3, and 40% faster on the dual Xeon.

When I have reached the SETI cumulative targets I want, I will swap my 2 Intel Quads to Einstein.

Well... there goes my hope of catching up to your RAC for the team, when I get my Quad in that I've ordered. I had a goal but you just had to go and raise the bar. :D

If your Quad comes on stream

If your Quad comes on stream soon, then you will have the chance you want. I still have 400K to reach my swap over target.

All is fine, just tongue in cheek. Actually, I'm just looking forward to breaking 500K. Seemingly it's taking forever. I am most thankful to all who made the power apps a go.

Very true.

I think they give Einstein the same sort of RAC contribution that only SETI, as a project, seemed to give, up until now.
