About two weeks ago my Einstein @ Home project listing disappeared and has not returned. My Seti project listing is still there. What happened to cause this and how can I correct it? I would appreciate your help.

Seeing how no one has reacted, they're probably all --as am I to be honest-- scratching their heads what you could possibly mean, so please try to be more eloquent on the problem that you see. Or show a screen shot of what you mean. Where are you looking? In BOINC Manager? On this or any other project web site? In any of the third party statistics sites?

If you mean that when you check in BOINC Manager and you only see Seti@Home in the Projects tab in the Advanced view, then that means something happened to the (files of the) Einstein project and it's no longer attached to your BOINC. There's nothing that David or anyone else can do to fix that, just you, by adding the project again. BOINC Manager->Tools->Add Project or account manager->Add project->Next->Einstein@Home->Next->Yes, existing user->fill in your email address and password->Next->Finish.

Einstein@ home has not

Einstein@ home has not updated my credit for several days to my team website (Allprojectstats.com)or to FREE DC's website either. The credit is updating on my BOINC clients just fine though.

I have had to put the project

I have had to put the project on no new tasks for right now. The last 4 jobs I've had have resulted in my computer freezing up while Einstein was running leaving an empty box that has the Einstein @ home logo on it showing on my screen and even my cursor and mouse unable to operate. This has happened to me now 4 separate times over multiple days and times. I looked thru messages to see if it was happening to anyone else, but don't see it reported.

I can't have my computer being locked up where I cannot use it if I need it so for the time being I've had to suspend the project unless you have a solution to this problem for me. I've been running Einstein for a long time now and this is only a recent issue so I'm sad to have to stop running it.

5463171 is my computer's id with the project and below is my basic computer info: 3/14/2013 10:03:55 AM | | Starting BOINC client version 7.0.31 for windows_x86_64

What's your problem to do

What's your problem to do with this thread? Nothing.

Try suspending GPU usage, or select Use AMD/ATI GPU to No in the project preferences, and just do CPU work.

thank you. I will give that

thank you. I will give that a try.

Sometimes it is confusing knowing where to post a problem on different boards and this thread specifically asks for problems and bug reports so thats why I posted it in here.

I must profess my ignorance

I must profess my ignorance in many things having to do with E@H, albeit I am totally excited to be involved with this MIT team since August 2010. The issue which has just come up for me is that in the "active members list", which shows member standing for team MIT, as of yesterday 3/28/13 and still today 3/29/13, now shows Gpod52 (me!) in both position 20 and 21. I have no idea why this suddenly changed. I only have my single Linux based machine and no changes in that for quite some time now. This isn't causing me to lose sleep, but I am curious. If there's one thing I know with computers is that I don't like things like this to "change" without me making the change. I can't think of what I may have done to make this happen. Can you explain this for me, please?

I do have some knowledge about systems since 1970, from computer augmented accounting using WAT4, punch-cards to testing and repairing 3 board wire-wrapped CPU's the size of a big lunch tray, 8 megabyte boards the same size, to manufacturing, support, installation and upgrading of 6 foot to 8 foot tall cabinets... as a young man. I also remember when a "Floating Point Board" went from 2 wire-wrapped boards to a single multilayer board... with problems galore! I still am in awe how far we humans have come with this technology. Now I live vicariously through E@H and hope one day to visit the LIGO center in Cambridge at the MIT campus. I live in Maine and it's reasonably close to visit. I hope I didn't bore you, and thank you so much for your time and patience helping out a now OLD guy from Maine.

I believe it has to do with how the pages get updated. One page has 20 members, when page 2 got updated your stats ranked in at nr 21 some time later when page 1 got it's update your stats were higher and ranked you at nr 20 so you got to be on both pages at the same time. I think these are cached pages and might only get updated once a day or so.
I've read about similar oddities at other projects but the case I remember had a participant vanish as his/hers stats was to low to qualify for page 1 when it updated but to high for page 2 when that updated, so didn't show in any of the two.
I just checked and now you are only shown at nr 20 sorted by RAC so all seems to be as it should.

I've been using BOINC and

I've been using BOINC and Einstein@home for only a few weeks; when I first started using it, it worked great, but since then my computer's screen has started flickering intensely at random times when the program is running, and in the last day and a half the computer itself has started shutting down every time BOINC runs for more than a minute or two. No idea why this is occurring but I have to expect it is pretty bad for my computer.

I see that you have a "i3 CPU M 350", so I guess you are running BOINC on a laptop computer. It sound like Einstein causes overheating and the laptop shuts down in order to prevent damage. You can solve this easily.

1. Pause BOINC.
2. Download a tool wich allows you to monitor the CPU temperature, like CPUID HWMonitor or something similar.
3. Check the temperature while not running BOINC. This is the idle temperature of your system.
4. Go to the BOINC preferences and set CPU usage down to e.g. 50% and continue running BOINC. Have a look at the CPU temperature. If your laptop is running stable and the temperature is not too high, you can increase the CPU usage as long as the temperature is in the OK-range.

If the CPU temperature of your laptop is high, even if BOINC is not running, you may need to clean the fan etc. from dust. I do this about once a year. Another problem could be that you are running some other background programs which use your CPU for some purpose.

PS: You posted this in the "Webpage problems" thread. Since this is not a webpage problem, it would have been better to open a new thread specificly for your problem.
