I'm not able to attach to a project. What URL have I got to enter to attach to einstein@home?
"einstein@home" itself is not recognized as a project URL, when I try to attach to a project.

You need to enter http://einstein.phys.uwm.edu for the url.

Hello mkvarda,

If you want to know what went wrong on your puter, please copy&paste the (error)-messages from the message-tab or the stderr.txt or stdout.txt.

If you're concerned about the wording 'Test', it's just a remnant from the early days, we are crunching real data for real science now, only the name stuck (probably some kind of 'never change a running system' ;)

The "Test" in the name is a remnant in our WU generator from the test phase. What you got and are working on are real "Results", so everything seems to be fine for you.

When I try and attach

When I try and attach einstein@home to Boinc using the project URL given when I signed up http://einstein.phys.uwm.edu/ my computer, in it's infinite wisdom tells me that the URL doesn't begin with http:// or that my account key is invalid. My Acct Key lets me sign into the userspage etc and it worked for my other computer. If you want this computer crunching for you please clear this up. Bob

Actually, did you need to blame the developers for something that is most likely to be an operator error. You've actually got 4 computers listed so the procedure has worked four times previously.

A few people have previously asked about this sort of problem and the likely answers are already recorded many times. Use the search function and you'll easily find those answers.

As you have already got several boxes running, the easiest way to get a new box up is simply to create the BOINC folder that the install creates anyway and populate it with the account_*.xml file and the projects folder (with the appropriate individual project subfolders) from an existing installation. Because the account file already contains your key and URL the new install will link to the project automatically. If you copy the projects folder, leave out the large data file from the einstein subfolder as you need to download a new one anyway. However having things like sun, earth, and executables will save on downloading the same again.

Edit: Forgot to mention that if you can't even be bothered giving essential information like BOINC version, error messages, internet connection type, etc, etc, how do you expect people to give reliable help. We're not mindreaders!!

Cheers,
Gary.

http://einstein.phys.edu/ does not work for me, but I know it should. I am a mac person working on a sony and adding x-tags and URL's is too confusing for me. Can't I just make this program work? Is there another URL I could use? Can BOINC take care of it from there end? Thanks.

Hi Allison,

It's actually http://einstein.phys.uwm.edu/ so maybe that's the problem. Can you carefully cut and paste from the email they send you?

I'm totally not a mac person so I've got no idea what sort of GUI you may have.

Cheers,
Gary.
