Merging computers - an issue?

Recently I've had problems with 2 of my 4 rigs, which meant some new hardware in one and a complete OS reinstall on both (the original OEM OS install).

On reattaching to the project the computers show up as new rigs, which it seems impossible to merge with their originals.

How can I get all the computers in my Account to be shown in a merging session? This is so I can pick the ones I know are the same and merge them?

The usual way of selecting the computer to merge just ends up with no lists, and, therefore, no merge occurring!

Merging computers - an issue?

John; I have had also shared this frustration. Many CPU upgrades, drive crashes, and power surges have required me to redo a number of my boxes. Best advice I can give you is to wait 30 days. Having "aged in the cask", your old computer designator can then be deleted. Good luck and thanks for your crunch time.

I've backed away from deleting the records of the rig on the assumption that the credit and RAC associated with that computer is lost.

Am I wrong in this view?

Your credit and RAC will be safe.

Yes. Credit is safe. It's

Yes. Credit is safe. It's associated with the user in the end.

30 days might not do it. You'll have to wait until all the results are out of the database. I've got copies of hosts on other projects I'm waiting to delete (because they don't want to merge for whatever reason) and I can't because there are still results associated with the host in the db.

But after 30 days they'll drop off your active host list.

Thanks for this advice, I

Thanks for this advice, I just deleted about a dozen old hosts... Getting a new notebook, and playing around a lot with different Linux distros and dual boot left me with way more computers than I could ever wish to have in a physical way :-D
