I've finished the first two S5R2 units and am half way through the third without any trouble so far. I'm running an old AMD 850 and taking about 50 hours per unit time. Is it just the newer machines that are overclocked that are having trouble?
(edit) is running multiple projects not helping, I run Einstein only.
I know... that`s why i`m running E@H exclusively, right now. I dont have any problems with errors, but the fact, that i hit the same time to complete an s5r2 WU as AMD 850? I got twice the juice in my barton (1.88ghz).
Could you pls give me a link for those workunits of yours? How many credits did you got for them?
Two are pending though, and you got twice the credit for the same time!
I've got an antique 600 Athlon and from doing a few rough calculations, the R2s do take a little longer to run, but it's only on the order of 5% or so. So IF there is a difference is MUCH smaller than with the faster CPUs. This also held true with Athlon XPs ranging from 1.1 to 1.6. Without a doubt slower, but no where near the magnitude of an Athlon 64 XP 3400 which probably averaged between 25 and 35% slower.

Well, that seems to confirm it. The older AMD processors are not suffering such a performance hit on S5R2 units as the newer ones are. Is this just happening to AMD kit or is it the same for Intel as well?
Odd really, one would have thought just the opposite. The extra instruction sets in modern processors ought to be able to cope better. OK, S5R1 was optimised, but anyone any ideas as to why we are seeing this on S5R2?

S5R1 had FPU and SSE optimised subroutines too.
S5R2 doesn't use SSE code at moment.
I had four Athlon XP 1700+ CPUs, all of them knew SSE.
I went over the AMD Tech Docs to check myself.
All of the Athlon XP CPUs know SSE instructions.
