I don't think it was an accident, I'm a Christian and believe that thier is a purpose, I don't want to affend any athiest or someone in another religion but I just don't see how it could have just been there, I also don't believe in evolution and believe in a literal 6 day creation, however the processes that we believe to have made the planets could be the way God made them, but speeded up, but that is just my personal belief.

hi Supersith, here are

Message 48507 in response to message 48506

hi Supersith,

here are some of my ideas, i hope it's clear that i am trying to think from a scientific point of view, including individual beliefs, as an infinite set of different interpretations of reality:

...there is no certainty, no dogma, no omnipotent nor omniscient revelation in what I say, just my opinion...

...i think people form their beliefs based on their own individual experiences, not from preconceived dogma...

...i cannot interpret other people's experiences, other people can never experience my life, nor my beliefs...

...There are an infinite set of individual experiences in reality, we are aware of only our own experiences...

...every thought, belief, or religion is a personal interpretation, if you believe it, then it's true for you...

...The problem is that an infinite set of interpretations can never actually be defined, by any one person...

...the visible cosmos an artificial reality, mentally constructed, and limited by human sensory perception...

...no one yet has been able to actually go there, and touch, every tangible aspect of the visible universe...

...the scientific method requires an open mind, freedom of thought, but also, dependence on past knowledge...

...because of the irreversibility of time, no past experience can be perfectly repeated, at least, not yet...

...it seems obvious that, from an individual point of view, we are dependent on other people's experience...

...it seems to be a requirement of any set of knowledge, science, history, we must depend on other people...

My article: Science,

Message 48508 in response to message 48507

My article:

Science, religion, and who's right about the creation of the earth
http://www.helium.com/tm/85037

specifically i changed:
The problem is that an infinite set of interpretations
can never actually be defined, by anyone, ever.

and added some stuff e. g.

I believe that many people simply cannot cope with the 60,000 chemicals that the human body produces every 24 hours. Every single chemical reaction gives rise to a random thought. If we want to think freely, we must ignore these random thoughts. The problem is that our experiences are often tagged with adrenalin. It seems to be a survival mechanism. The more adrenalin that is produced at the time of an experience, the more likely we are to remember the actual or imagined thoughts related to that event. This process profoundly affects our basic beliefs. Atheism, theism, agnosticism, or any such point of view, happens long after we are aware of a nearly infinite set of personal experiences, many of them happening during our infancy!

The scientific facts are that no one knows, and no one may ever actually be able to prove, how the earth, or any part of the cosmos, happened to exist. There is a belief among cosmologists that there is no beginning, nor can there ever be an ending to the infinite universe, which may actually be an infinite number of unique universes. I believe that this concept evokes an immense amount of fear in the human brain. I believe that the human brain is a vulnerable and finite body organ that has developed through millions of years of some type of process, which one cannot even refer to, say as evolution, without evoking a huge compendium of ridiculous historical debates about the meaning of a simple word.

to sum up my POV:

Change [aka evolution] happens, apparently it's the ONLY thing that happens :)

How do we define life or

Message 48510 in response to message 48509

How do we define life or death of the body?

The body is a biological organism built from
physics and chemistry. A body dies if biology
reduces to the original chemistry and physics.

The infinite mind is not biology, nor physics,
nor chemistry. There is an infinite life now!

The human mind may be an infinite process. The
awareness we all have now, of the possibility
of the cosmos being infinite, or nearly infinite,
as least in size, speaks to the possibility that
our mind can indeed grasp the concept of infinity.
However, even the most advanced and respected
scientists would hesitate to say that we can ever
actually experience infinity in a tangible way.
Unless we do have a way to experience infinity,
my personal opinion is that we will never be
certain of how the earth, nor any aspect of life,
came into existence. Indeed, the possibility of
the infinite universe being extant, no start, no
finish, is probably the only enlightened view.

IMHO the mind and the universe are the same, the experience and experiencer...

ha ha ha i think you have a good handle on infinity Adam :)

its bigger than both of us :)

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Laconism

Laconism comes from Laconia (a.k.a. Lacedaemon
[greek Λακεδαίμων]), the region surrounding the
city of Sparta stricto censu, region which was
under the control of the city.
