My computer froze up on the screensaver of Einstein and upon restarting I noticed this in red in the messages of BOINC...

I still have all those WU's...Any idea what any of that meant, or if I have a problem or its just a random craziness of life? ;)

Weird Crash!

As it says it resent the units, what may have happened during the lockup is the files were open, and when you rebooted, were marked as bad, so when the BOINC software requested work from Eistein it noticed those files were missing and resent them to you.

Of the project I do, Einstein is the only one that has this feature turned on. Others may also do it. This way it doesn't have to wait for timeout, and then redistribute. You already were assigned them, so let's give you another chance at finishing them.

The freeze probably messed up

The freeze probably messed up your client state file. When it was reconstructed the client was able to redownload the same tasks you were assigned before.

That's a nice system to have,

That's a nice system to have, too bad I lost the 60% progress I had on the one WU :( Thanks for the info!

Now I wonder why it crashed in the first place, its not the first time this has happened, I think the same thing happened the other week, although I didn't pay much attention to it.

Some graphics cards are not

Some graphics cards are not very good with the 3D modeling of the screen saver. I personally shut off the monitor, or use a blank screen saver, and never get a lockup due to it.

Its worked up till now, I just had the same thing happen last night, except Rosetta was frozen up on the screen, I'll shut off the screen saver and see what happens...

I have seen the same thing myself on a couple of occasions. The latest time, I was able recover from the freeze by forcing my laptop into sleep mode by shutting the lid. I don't know if it is coincidence or not, but upon recovering from the freeze, it appeared that two projects should have switched during the screensaver mode.

I wrote a message about this on the BOINC boards, but got no response. Anybody know how to file an official bug report?
