Henry; You are now a candidate for the "Curse of 32". Won't you be happy when you get a load of the 1 hour work units that crunch in 15 minutes. The server thinks you are working on your cache quota, wait till you run dry and get stiffed for new work.

I guess you missed this thread http://einsteinathome.org/node/191168 and this one http://einsteinathome.org/node/191250. Both where started by Bernd Machenschalk, Project Developer. Amazing what you can find when you look ;)

I don't understand what I'm

I don't understand what I'm doing wrong. I have an AMD Athlon64. I've tried U41.04 (SSE3) and also U41.07 (SSE) and they make no difference. I exit BOINC, unzip the file, copy it to the Einstein folder, replace the existing .exe file, restart BOINC, and reset Einstein.

The Result ID just says the usual "2006-05-22 14:37:45.7813 [normal]: Start of BOINC application 'projects/einstein.phys.uwm.edu/albert_4.37_windows_intelx86.exe'" and the crunch time is no different.

You're not actually using the optimized clients. Instead of resetting the project, just suspend, exit Boinc and BoincManager, put in the optimized client, reopen Boinc/Manager and resume.

You also want to make sure you have SSE3 before using U41.04. Some A64 3500+ don't have that capability.

I believe your only mistake is resetting the project. That clears the Einstein folder, so when BOINC starts up again it has to download a new copy of the (standard) app—as well as all new work. I don’t think you’ll see anything different in the BOINC message logs once the optimized app is installed, but if you look at your first result’s output file, you should see some special identifying text in there.

Hey, thanks for your help. I didn't realize that reseting the project would do that. It seems to be working now.

I checked CPU-Z and it says I have SSE and SSE2, but I don't see SSE3, so I've used S41.07

I've noticed since Akosf was employed by E@h we haven't seen any updates on the various optimized apps. Does this mean no more updates?

He's probably working on official clients now. I suspect that S5 workunits will be longer than the existing s4 ones to allow a more in depth search to be carried out.
