Same here; and since I can be more effective for the cause of science in other projects without the need to spend time and energy into my setup, then hey, why not? Hence, windows for einstein, linux for the pack. ;-)
When the Einstein team levels their software to a point where it doesn't matter anymore, which OS you use, I am more than willing to contribute all resources once again.

yipe. I seriously hope that 100mhzish machine's a server running something you can't be bothered to xfer to a newer box, and not a dedicated cruncher. Your oldest machines have to be at the point where retiring them, and using the electricity savings to buy/build a bottom end machine with new parts would quickly pay for itself and crunch much faster too. Dell's got a rebate special desktop at $300 periodically.
It has nothing to do with RAC or credits. At this moment the Linux-Clients need more than 4times to crunch a WU than the optimized Windows-Clients. Linux-Users want to crunch at the same speed as Windows-users.
Believe me, I know exactly how you feel! My old Xeons were taking uo to 90k+ seconds before the new app came out. Now they take less than a quarter of that time to complete one.
The way I see it you have three choices:
1. Run the app that's out and wait till the new one comes out for Linux.
2. Install WINE and run the Winblows app.
3. Take your 'puter(s) to another project.
If you pick number 3, we'll all miss your time and effort on this project. Whatever you do, have fun and good luck!
Sorry guys. but I do not see any sense in spending Linux CPU cycles for this project. Windows is three times faster, but I am not willing to install this disease on my boxes. No Microsoft tax, not even for a nice project like this.
I am switching over to QMC with my linux machines and I will come back, when a client with a similar performance as on windows is available. I was waiting really long, 3 month is a long time and my frustration level is now high enough. I will also encourage all linux users of my team to follow me.

You missed the point. It *is* all about the science.
It's sad to see, that my linux box is apparently producing more heat than science with the current linux app. I'll also drag it to a project with a better science per cycle ratio. When there's an optimized E@H Linux application then I'll be back.
There a more projects out there, which use the computing power I have to offer more efficiently than the E@H Linux albert. That's the reason I'm pulling my Linux box out, too. It has nothing to do with credits.

I hate to jump into such a heated discussion, but I don't actually understand the sentiment and so perhaps you can help me figure it out. When you joined E@H (before Akosf's new apps?), presumably you thought the science was worth the electricity, costs, etc. With the updated apps, people running the Linux boxes (and us users waiting for the official version) are still doing the exact same work as before. If it was worthwhile before, why isn't it now? If the purpose is the science, how has that changed from before? I am affraid I just don't understand.....
With that said, I truly respect your desires to switch projects. BOINC should be about doing what you want with your spare cycles, even if I personally don't understand your motives. Good luck with whatever project you may crunch!
It is a good thing everyone does not feel the same way or there would be only macs here right now. Last year macs got a big boost from altivec optimizations but linux and windows users stayed even though we did not get the same. Right now it is windows turn to get a boost. Next week there could be a guy comes along named Jonux and he knows as much or more about linux as Akos knows about windows. And then it would be linux turn. A lot of what I have read here seems very petty to say the least. Lets all just get the scienc done :)
