OK Eliphedius I will try ........[snipping]..........
I believe you've got everything turned upside down. ........[snipping]..........
Gentlemen, let us maintain a level of decorum please.
Bruce Allen, the Project scientist said, "I read you loud and clear. Hopefully we can convert our application to using the 'fixed credits per WU' scheme: that should address this."
Something he's discussed several times before and the decision is already made. Our work deserves a little more credit to be equitable, so it will get extra credit.
Quite frankly, any further discussion is moot, until we have the new system, then we can all start bitching again ;-) <<== See smiley
I've switched my computers to predominantly crunch Einstein with only a token presence on each of cpdn (just in case of Einstein going down).
I switched my machines over because Einstein needed them more and I don't care (too much) about the credits.
But jrenkar is right many crunchers are driven by climbing the rankings and if giving more credits entices them to sign up with Einstein I say bring it on.
Lets get that 200 days down to 0 as quickly as possible

Despite of getting far less credits per hour granted with E@H (13something/hour) against S@H ( 30something/hour) I was planning tot dedicate more to this project as soon I met some goals set to S@H wich are :
. Passing 50k credits (almost there)
. Being within the top 1000 one host users. ( will be soon enough)
. Being top 500 ranked in my country( The Netherlands) (there already)
. Ranked second in my team just to see two of the same surnames together (firstplace is not possible with one host)( almost there)
Due to the outage at Berkeley and keeping a low cache I was forced to kick in some earlier.:-)
Anyway the relatively low credit will not withhold me but I agree with jrenkar .
Have no goals set for this project, It wil get at least 8 hours a day wich is half the time the puter is on .
I've been running this Einstein for about a little less than a month and have a very basic question - What is Credit? What do you guys use it for? What's the big deal?
A simple (non-technical) reply would be appreciated. Thanks
for every work unit you finish you are granted credit
if you look at statistics on the boinc program you will see a graph that is your credits
they arnt used for anything it just shows how much work you have done for a project
if you also grunch seti check out seti page under projects and go to your prefs and you will see a list of 4 (cross project stats programs)if you go to one of these it is like a leader board showing how well you are doing in the world

To quote from the Boinc-Wiki credit is "A term meaning the amount of effort contributed by a user to the BOINC Powered Projects that that Participant is supporting. It is a metric that allows Participants to monitor their individual contributions and, unfortunately, in some cases to allow them to brag about their contributions." Consult the wiki for more info.
Sry, to double the info on the previous post between yours and mine. Someone beat me to it. ha,ha

The term credit was used because it translated better than other words to other languages, as I remember reading this someplace else.
Credit can be used by the development team, also. They can use the statistics to bring to the table for grant proposals.
For our purposes, it's just a bragging thing. Example my signature.
