Go to your account site, general preference and increase your 'Connect to network about every' time. With 2 projects I wouldn't increase to more than to 3 or 4 days.
In the Projects tab select the project you changed and press update. The setting will be used by both projects.

The CPU is already running at nearly 100%. The projects use all spare processing. The only way to increase is to get a better machine.

There are several points here

Each project has a limit on the number of WU it will issue per day to any machine - this is called the quota. If you have a fast box ans get small work units then it is possible to run out of work on that one project - but that does not stop you getting work from other projects that day. The quota is set by each project and you cannot change it.

Secondly, you can set your cache size from 0.01 to 10.00 days - this is the amount of work you hold locally on your own machine. Aurora Borealis has described how to alter this setting. It is important to understand this will not make you machine work faster, instead it means that the machine can go on working for longer if you don't connect to the internet for a few days or if the project server is down.

Thirdly, yes you can add as many projects as you like - this will not usually increase the total amount of work done, but it does protect you against cases where one or two projects are out of work. By default you will get equal shares or work from each project, but you can hange this by changing the resource share of some of you projects.

I hope this helps
