Hello guys! Your points of

Message 21621 in response to message 21620

Hello guys!
Your points of views are very interesting, but for me both science and religion (or spirituality if sounds more cheerfull to you) have the same goal: answering to this simple question: "what in the hell am I doing here?". And that really the point, expressed in slightly different ways by scientists or religious men. Why that? because it lead straight to: 1/examine where I am, what is my habitat, what's above me
and what's under me. Wich means knowing your position. 2/ ask another essential question, no matter if you're believer or not, wich can be express by these words: "God, are you here?" -- It's really essential to ask this question because this means: "Am I alone in this universe with my little ego, or is there something better to move to?". If I am alone then I am fucked up; but if there is a goal to move to, this open a new space in my mind, wich allows me to say: "I can do better, I can be better".

It may be usefull to remind that science study universe from (don't took it too litteraly) Man to God,
and Religion from God to Man. This mean that one involve the rational part of the man, which needs proofs, and the other involve the emotional part, which have it's own standard of value for what is acceptable and what is not. Have you ever experienced doing something your rational part classify "stupid", but your emotional part retain "joyfull"? (In other words have you ever done Karaoke?)

Science and Religion are different points of views, but the goal is One.

I would like to recomand you an author: Patrizio Paoletti
If you're interested and have difficulty in finding his books let me know...

See Ya....

(I'm sorry for my so bad english, but I'm french and well, you know we french guys are not so hot in learning foreign languages)

Ariane, here is a joke to cheer you up. At a physics conference, where everybody speaks some version of English, the chief of the French group stands up and announces: D'or en avant nous parleron en Francais. The chief of the British delegation retaliates: Nous aussi.Speaking more seriously of science and religion, have you ever read "The human phenomenon", by Pierre Teilhard de Chardin? It is a book well worth reading. The WWW is a representation (darstellung) of his "noosphere". The original French edition goes back to 1955. Cheers.

LOL ! Tullio, very funny joke. It's true that there is always a sort of rivalry between french-speaking & english-speaking world and at the same time a "love-story"amoung them.Frenchies despite of their"anglophobia" adore speaking the "franglais" and english-speakers at the same time that they despise french-speakers love hearing french in private. As for Teilhard de Chardin, i'm familiar with his thoughts and ideas and i appreciate very much his vision of the world when he do a synthesis of physical and biological phenomena ending in an evolution of the Univers and finaly a fusion with God.Very interesting, i didn't yet read "The human phenomenon" but i will do it always by consulting Amazon and e-books.Thank you for all these valuable references you give.
Cheers

Hello All! If my former

Hello All!

If my former ISP was an airline, they just said, "We're running low on fuel and need to lighten the load, so we're asking the folks in the wireless seats to please depart the aircraft now." The objection to being at 30,000 feet was basically met with, "We hope you enjoyed your flight!"

My connection's now facilitated by the combined efforts of both the cable company and the phone company (who additionally has a backup provision should their DSL service fail).

Feels good to be overwhelmed with information again. Can't believe I missed out on the Ovaltine!

Hmmm, sounds as though you've had an encounter with Captain Midnight (of the 40's radio serial) himself with Terry and the Pirates as cabin crew. In any case, there is plenty of Ovaltine as far as I know.

Don't you dare post the singing! When Misfit did that they had to delete the whole thread!

I've been working on my version of "I'd like to teach the world to sing" but I have to edit out the swearing and the children crying in the background..."mummy please stop...no more mummy..."
