Strange... But anyway, problem solved :-)

Best,
Oliver

It's now coming and going - sometimes when the BOINC screensaver flips over to einstein@home (I've got the screensaver cycling through the 3 projects I run for a minute each) it's properly full-screen, and sometimes it's back to being full-screen black with a slightly off-centre image of the einstein@home window on it.

I downgradet BOINC to get Einstein@Home working with my GPU but
it had the suprising effect that the screen savers from BOINC disappeared
from my system. How can I reinstall the screen saver from Einstein@Home?
I am running a Window 7 system.

Inge

If the BOINC screensaver vanished from the Windows screensaver settings then you should reinstall BOINC. Our screensaver depends on the BOINC screensaver, in fact, it's launched by it...

When I ran only Sety@home the screensaver was working normally, but now I have added the project einstein@home and all I can see in the screensaver is a black screen! Does anyone know why and how to fix it? Thanks!

Inge

Inge,

You should first check to make sure the driver for your grahics card is up to date. But, you may also be encountering the Einstein 4.79 "graphics bug". Usually the "graphics bug" ends work units with "Client error" messages but, in your case, it may just be keeping Einstein graphics from being displayed.

You might check into using the Beta Application (see link under More Information on the E@H home page). The Beta Application fixes the "graphics bug". I would also add that it is very stable. I have been using it for about 3 months with no problems.

But, a new Einstein science application is supposed to be released soon and if you keep using Einstein 4.79, the new application will be automatically downloaded to you. It will have the "graphics bug" fixes that the Beta app contains and it will also do more intensive science calculations. If you change to the Beta application now, you will need to "change back" when the new application is released. On the other hand, if you decide to stay with Einstein 4.79, you should quit using the screensaver (and "Show graphics" option) until the new application comes out. Otherwise, the "graphics bug" could start causing your work units to fail with "Client errors".

Stick

You could try Uninstalling Your Graphics Driver, and Re-Installing The Latest Version from The Website (such as Vvidia). Do Not just use any Generic Website that Supplies The Right Graphics Card.
Be aware though, that when you attempt to Install The NEW One, your System may attempt to Reinstall any Previous Versions that may have not been Uninstalled Correctly at an earlier date (this happened to me). If that happens, you need to Uninstall THAT Version, and Install The NEW Version from The Website again.

It's the same as any other Windows Screensaver, go to screensavers, and select (None) instead of BOINC.

I am using Debian. After upgrading libgl1-mesa-dri:i386 version 10.2.6-1 (dep: libllvm3.4) to 10.3.0~rc3-1 (dep: libllvm3.5) einstein_S5R6_1.01_graphics_i686-pc-linux-gnu crashes with the following error in stderrgfx.txt:
LLVM ERROR: Do not know how to split the result of this operator!

"LLVM ERROR" typically means an error inside clang itself. I suggest you don't use the release candidate version of the lib in question and try again with the stable release.

There is no such issue with
einsteinbinary_BRP3_1.00_graphics_i686-pc-linux-gnu
and libgl1-mesa-dri:i386 version 10.3.0~rc3-1

Ok, but still, it's an internal clang error. It just might not be triggered by all apps...
"There's no such issue with" libllvm3.4 - to use a similar argument ;-)
