I have uploaded several completed packets according to the messages section, but my project total credit is zero :-( What do I have to do to get credit for my work, upload an apple for the teacher :-)

Lionel,

You simply have to wait, like all the rest of us, until a quorum is formed, before credit is granted.

You really should take some time to read the Boinc Wiki to get an understanding of how things work. It has a FAQ section, explanations of errorcodes, and loads of other very useful information. Try it.

Regards,

Michael

OK. I browsed the Wiki. It talks about quorums. But what is a quorum (wrt this project) and when do we get credit? I have uploaded several units. Maybe someone has to check the results by hand :-)

I really don't care about credits per se. I just want to know that my system is doing what it is supposed to do and that the units I am processing are not just getting thrown out or are corrupted. I guess I just want to feel like the work on this project is doing some good.

Lionel,

If you click on your name (the blue Lionel Silva next to your last post), then on "View" Computers, then on one of your blue "Computer ID's", then on a blue "Results", and, finally one one of your blue "Work unit ID's", you will see one of your quorums. Credit will be granted when 3 of the computers in a quorum have returned valid results. Your computers are cranking out results a lot faster than most of us, so you will tend to accumulate a backlog of "pending" results. As Michael indicated, just be patient.

When you were browsing the Wiki, did you think to type that word into the Google search box??? If you had, the very first "hit" would have given you an overview about quorums and would have provided you with many more links to other terms, including the concepts of validation and of the whole credit system in general.

You will only know that when enough results have been validated to form the quorum. Check that out using the method suggested by Stick.

Edit: Here's a little test to see if you have been paying attention to what people have been telling you :). You now have 14 completed and uploaded results but not a single one has yet been validated. Please review your results list and tell us why that is the case. In other words, please explain the reason why your results cannot yet be validated. There is a very good reason.

Cheers,
Gary.

Lionel, Congratulations,

Lionel,

Congratulations, your first credit arrived! Sooner than expected, too - if you check the result, that 3rd cruncher (the one who completed the quorum), reported the result in little less than 1 day, where the average time for that computer was 3.52 days between starting and reporting a completed result.

EDIT: I just realized that I was a bit "loose" with terminology above (i.e. I misused the word "quorum").
