Here I am again hosting TLPTPW. Why it seems like only yesterday.....
Rules is Rules (lifted from Mike Hewson):
1. Winner of the last thread starts the new one with a post of these rules.
2. Chooses a future event which triggers the winner, e.g. post number, date-time, and records it privately somehow (yellow sticky, etc.)
3. Everyone has fun posting until the target event is reached.
4. When the target is reached, old winner posts declaration of new winner and also PMs them.
5. Shortly after this a Mod will lock the recently won thread.
6. No double posts. Violator buys a round for the house in The SETI Refugee Pub.
7. Additional rule -- No posts that APPEAR to be blank - these will be ignored or deleted. (Sig lines do not count as part of a post.)
Addendum: Rule 6a. The forum host cannot declare themselves a winner and therefore may post as many times in succession as necessary to cajole, bully, entice, persuade, encourage, shame, browbeat, trick, or inveigle others to participate.

Thanks very much for adding the rules back in.
There seems to be a flock of new people joining this project. I wonder why that would be .... ???
The rate at which new/updated profiles are turning up for validation has suddenly shot up by a factor of at least 5 times!! Quite a puzzle .... ;-).
Whatever the reason, it seems likely a few of those might get lost and wander in here. We wouldn't them to be un-rule-y now would we :-). You never know, if there was a bit of an explanation of how things work, plus perhaps a puzzle or two to solve along the way, a few of those might decide to join in and have some fun.
Seems like a perfect opportunity for some of you wise old diehards to get a bit inventive. Clever and kid friendly would be the go :-).

Welcome SETI orphans! For you newcomers, wanderers, curiosity-seekers, and rubberneckers, the purpose of this forum is to have a good time, share your thots (hopefully pleasant), and try to figure out what the trigger might be for me, the current TLPTPW host, to declare someone the winner and take over my exalted position... or try to figure it out to avoid such exaltation. :)
Gary Roberts has dropped the glove for us veterans of the game to be inventive, clever, and kid friendly. *sigh* I thought that we had those first two traits amply covered, but I guess not, as some folks (*cough* Moderator *cough*) are always striving for perfection. Kid friendly? Now there we may have to dig deep, but I am sure we are up to the challenge.
You can safely ignore the optimistic overachievers who periodically declare themselves the winners, unless you think that your power of positive thinking is more powerful than theirs. Good luck with that!
