So interesting

So interesting observation.

I've got a thinkpad x1 Extreme with the 1050 ti Max Q and figured I would give it a shot. I know it's far from the fastest GPU out there, but 1 plus hour per WU is a little excessive. Clock speed remains well over the specified boost speed so Lenovo must have done some tweaking, or I must have something set wrong in settings. Is there something I need to do to optimize Nvidia GPUs on this project? Maybe it's the driver. It's running graphics driver version 436.30.

By 'creator' driver do you mean studio on their website?

Really, really impressed with this machine so far.

If you don't already have it get something like GpuZ or MSI Afterburner to monitor the actual usage of your gpu, that way you can see how much of the gpu you are actually using to process the workunits and if running more than one at a time will help you. I use Afterburner as it gives me a graph if I click the down arrow to show gpu usage instead of gpu temp, but both programs will work. If you are using less than 50% of your gpu go into the website settings here and change them to run 2 workunits at the same time. BE SURE to check the numbers again, temp and usage, to be sure you aren't running it too hot after you make any changes. What you are looking for is 2 workunits finishing in less or equal time to you finishing a single workunit right now. Graphics cards with lots of onboard memory can often run multiple workunits with no loss in time or efficiency.

As for what "creator" means I don't know as don't have more than a single gpu in each pc so the normal drivers work just fine for me, I was just passing on what someone else said. I do have a couple of older pc's that have to go back to a restore point if I try to update the drivers to the latest so they just run what works and will stay that way until it's no longer supported.
