Topic 218169

I have 2 computers working on Einstein@home, the new one DESKTOP-44UTHFU has 4 Gpus but none of them are doing any work, only the Cpu. I cant find a setting to activate it. My older Computer DESKTOP-NBVI3UA has 2 Gpus and both the Cpu & the Gpus are doing work units.

Can anyone point me in the right direction

Do you have any OpenCL

Do you have any OpenCL drivers loaded for the gpus?  Do you have enable gpus set in your preferences?

Boinc Event Log will show you

Boinc Event Log will show you that when you start Boinc. For your Nvidia there's a line with "CUDA" but right under that there should be also a line showing something about your Nvidia GPU and opencl. If it's missing then the opencl driver component for the GPU either hasn't been recognized by Boinc or it's hasn't been installed at all.

Generally, you should always

Generally, you should always use the drivers for your card directly from the manufacturer.  Microsoft drivers don't have OpenCL components.  And M$ tends to throw its own drivers at a host at every Update and borking OpenCL support which is needed for BOINC. So anytime M$ updates your system you will likely lose the capacity to do work on your gpus.  Always reinstall the manufacturer drivers after a M$ update.

A few things. Both of your

A few things.

Both of your hosts have GPU tasks assigned to them. The one with four GPUs (Threadripper) has 15 workunits, all assigned back on Feb. 01. You are sharing resources with SETI as well. What happens if you suspend that and run only E@H? I would do that and force an update on E@H and see if it picks up workunits.

To be fair to the GPUs, that host is not picking up any new CPU work units as well. Is this machine on for only a limited number of hours a day or is it on 24/7? A 24 core Threadripper should be doing a lot more than what it is returning. The time to crunch is okay, the volume is just low.

He could be using the default settings and the 25% is throttling his crunching.
