Hello,
I took out my old laptop and put xubuntu on it, hoping to put it in a corner crunching, but I can't get any work. It has an Intel Core Duo, so 32-bit only. It's this machine: http://einsteinathome.org/host/12055359
The message I get is: Binary Radio Pulsar Search (Arecibo) is not available for your system.
I know that, because it's GPU only, but shouldn't I be able to get Gamma Ray Pulsar WUs? Or Gravitational Wave WUs?
It's been a long time since I used this laptop for crunching with linux, so I don't know whether I have to set up something special. It's the same machine as this one: http://einsteinathome.org/host/2829783 and that used to work well.
So, what can I do about this? Change linux to Windows XP? I can do that, but I don't feel like it if it's not necessary. Or is it something in my computing preferences maybe?
Help much appreciated!

Not getting work on Linux 32-bit (CPU only system)
)
Yes, you certainly should.
The best place to look when trying to work out what is going on is the last contact link for the host in question - it's in the far right column for the computer in question on your computers list on the website. Unfortunately, yours is a bit puzzling. It shows a request for CPU work
but it doesn't show any checking of a CPU work plan class. It should show something like
... [version] Checking plan class 'FGRP4-SSE2'
somewhere in the section where all the GPU plan classes are being checked. You have two active hosts and your other one is getting FGRP4 work. If both these hosts are in the same 'venue' they would have the same preferences so it seems strange that one can get FGRP4 work and not the other. I assume they are in the same venue because they both show
... [version] parsed project prefs setting 'gpu_util_brp': 0.500000
which I imagine you have set for the other host in order to run two concurrent GPU tasks. You certainly wouldn't need this setting for a 'CPU only' host. All I can suggest is that you put each host in a separate venue and then set individual preferences for the Core Duo to suit the hardware it actually has. This would include selecting CPU only runs and disabling all GPU runs. I don't know why you would need to do this but when you are desperate you tend to try anything :-). There has to be some sort of preference setting that is interfering.
Cheers,
Gary.

Thank you for the help!
Fortunately, today it has got a few FGRP4-SSE2 tasks, so the problem has corrected itself.

Different problem today, I'm sure, but it looks like there are no CPU tasks available.

I'm also having difficultly getting work for my T5500 Linux host, x86_64 this time.
With all the BRP apps selected in project preferences (default venue), there is no mention of Gamma-ray pulsar search #4/FGRP4-SSE2 or Gravitational Wave search S6Bucket Follow-up #2 or #3:
If i disable the BRP apps i get mention of Gravitational Wave search S6Bucket Follow-up #2 and #3, but not Gamma-ray pulsar search #4/FGRP4-SSE2
If i have just Gamma-ray pulsar search #4 selected to yes:

Same with all my hosts, but on Windows XP and 7. Looks like server has not enough tasks to suite our CPUs needs.
