Thanks @288larsson, i like your cruncher zoo! Have you tried running x2 or x3?

Something is wrong here. My Asus Matrix 280X run 1xWU@2660 sec. This GPU has 2048 processors, 32 compute units and 4.3 teraflops SP. Fury X has 4096 processors, 64 compute units and 8.6 teraflops SP. Are we missing something?!

Thanks, Larsson. Once you've done this I would also try to add a few CPU tasks to keep the CPU clock speed up. but as many to fill the CPU. This has lead to some improvement in the past.

I find a single CPU task increases GPU times by about 600-700s (10%) for my AMD GPU. (my nVidia is not so sensitive)

Typical CPU processor loads when running only GPU tasks are about 52% on each of 4 CPUs.

I am running a S6BucketFU2 CPU task at the moment to confirm.

Opps, I meant: but NOT as many to fill the CPU

Anyway, this is just something to try and not a general rule. I think this may have applied to Intel GPUs, where more elements (last level cache etc.) may depend on the CPU clock. I forgot the details, though.

Thanks 288larsson for the tests. With two tasks you seem to be getting around 214 Kppd.

Have you anyway to measure the power consumption?

thanks

Hi update
First I ran x1 Wu ~2100 sec gpu usage 75-85% 2 CPU task (Asteroids @ home AVX).
then x2 Wu ~ 3500 sec GPU usage 93-97% 0 CPU task but many validation inconclusive, 250watt.
then x3 works not GPU usage 0% 63Watt

Power test Fury X x1 Wu ~2200 sec 0 cpu task 220Watt
same computer
Power test HD7970 x1 wu ~3000 sec 0 cpu task 207Watt
Power test HD7970 x2 wu ~5000 sec 0 cpu task 220Watt

Thanks 288larsson !
At least Amd 'finally' managed to build a GPU faster
than the 4 year old HD7970 )
The R9 290 series was Slower and used more power -
(Not a good characteristic )

Actually only one invalid WU

Actually only one invalid WU in your log, it should be OK to run two/three WUs at a time with good results. I'm a little puzzled by your CPU, it should have 4 cores, hasn't it?, and 8 threads if you enable hyperthreading. So it should also be possible to crunch three or four Einstein WUs if you don't crunch any CPU unit. Why does it show as a 2 core CPU?, some others of your hosts also show odd quantities of cores btw.

Thanks for your time.
