Just wondering why the new Gamma-ray pulser jobs take about 56 hours to run on an AMD/Athlon 64 X2 5000+ 2.6GHz machine running 64bit Win7 but only ~43 hours on a couple of AMD/Athlon 64 X2 3800+ 1.9GHz machines running 32bit WinXP?? All three machines are configured to use 100% of CPUs for BOINC.
Any ideas?

It appears you haven't had much luck with either one since most of them are comp. error results and as far as RAM you don't have much on any of those 4 hosts.
(but on the older DDR2's you can't do much better than what you have on your 4600+ )
But it would help adding some to the 5000+ host if that is a DDR3
The previous versions of the GRP tasks took about 1/10th of the time as the current version.

MAGIC on another thread you noticed my GPU tasks were about 10000 longer then your same card. Thanx for the heads up. I was wondering how many task you run 1x 2x ...? Its a new rig, trying to sort out what works best.
w1hue The most those ddr2 are going to be able to use is about 3.2g RAM even if you put in 4 the comp hardware will set about .75gb aside . I have an old rig still going and that's the way they work and its 64 bit. With the PD 3.6 and the 4gb ram The tasks run about 25 hrs. Right now I have the GPU shut down as the ps is getting a little shaky in its old age and waiting for a new one.
I should add that's most of the older mbs there are a few that will take more ram but 32b xp I don't think will see it.

Not according to a monitor program I'm using and Task Manager.
As someone else noted, I started getting a lot of "comp errors" on the two XP machines -- and recently downloaded WUs show 400+ hours of expected run time (I aborted them after a few hours). I've decided to give up on Gamma Pulser tasks on all three machines and just run BP4 tasks -- they seem to run just fine on the XP machines. I don't have a runtime comparison between them and the Win7 machine yet as the Win7 machine is still crunching on a gamma pulser WU.
In case anyone is wondering, most of my Einstein credits are from an XP machine that exclusively runs NVIDIA GPU tasks for Einstein, Milkyway and SETI and CPU tasks on the other projects.
