so one doesn't need to slip in dark matter per se. You can of course slip dark matter anywhere - it is the universal undefined hypothesis filler. The other giveaway is ( my emphasis ) :

( edit ) Please don't misunderstand me : there is an interesting anomaly to explain, but 'dark matter' is currently the same as "I don't know" as a cognitive tool. I can insert that to cover any residual data pattern as yet unexplained. Yes, you can attribute gamma ray excess emission from leptonic and/or hadronic annihilation. However the almost hidden, but unsupported, component of the proposition is that dark matter has decayed to said leptons/hadrons. Heck, I'm made of leptons and hadrons and suitably boiled up I could glow well via gammas especially if you throw me in to a black hole. I'll only cause a dull thud to be heard here on Earth if I trip over, but going down the universal plughole I will really shine ! :-)
