I've recently had a lot of errors on the LATEAH WU's. I finally dug in to see what the problem is, and STDERR says maximum disk space has been used. I previously had max disk usage setting at 10gb, but then I raised it to 20gb and I'm still getting errors. 3 of those WU's failed last night after I made the change to 20gb. I've got over a terabyte of AVAILABLE space on my HD, and I would tend to think that 20gb is more than enough space to accommodate anything Einstein and Collatz has to throw at it, but yet those WU's failed again last night, so what is going on? Maybe I should go to 30gb? For the record, some compute correctly, and some don't. Those that don't all fail for the same reason, max disk usage.

weird little disk space problem

There's the disk usage limit in Gigabytes, there's the remaining free space limit in Gigabytes, and also the disk "use at most nn% of total limit".

Then there is the ever-popular goof of setting the preferences on the preference web page for a different location (a.k.a. venue) than that currently assigned to the host in question. (say, for example, school vs. default)

And also there is the pretty popular goof of not realizing that one has (possibly accidentally) activated local host preferences as seen at BoincMgr|Tools|preferences for this host--which if active over-rule what is set on the web page for the location.

Not trying to throw stones--I've personally erred at nearly every one of these opportunities.

I think it was the one in

I think it was the one in Boinc Mgr -Tools-Prefs. It was set at 10gb so I changed it to 20 gb as well. I'll watch this for a few days and see if any more WU's fail for this reason. Thanks for the response and pointers.

Well, the internet says

Well, the internet says you're running a 3.2 octocore with a gtx 680. I've never thrown that kind of power at BOINC, but you may want to turn down your buffer, under Tools-Comp Prefs-Network Use. Set it at a day or so, until you get working results, because BOINC will throw plenty at that if you're running a large cache.

It made it through the night

It made it through the night without losing any WU's. My buffer is set for 2 days. I like it there so that I can ride over any server outages, which are usually shorter than 2 days. I'm not using all of this power for E@H. I only use 6 cores for E@H and the GPU for Collatz. Gotta' leave 2 cores open for Windows and other programs, otherwise you get totally bogged down and nothing works right. Windows implementation of processor affinity sucks big time.
