Ooooh, that's a goodie. We always get interesting replies for this one! :-)

Try : a measure of progress, bragging rights, team cred .... but alas no intersection with real economic value eg. hamburger purchasing .... :-) :-)

Cheers, Mike.

I have made this letter longer than usual because I lack the time to make it shorter ...

... and my other CPU is a Ryzen 5950X :-) Blaise Pascal

thanks Mike,im glad to

thanks Mike,im glad to participate in this study.i do this because my pc is idle, and there's nothing better than research to use my pc's unused power(wow power, makes me feel superhuman in a strange way) lol, hope we find the grav waves ,also the pulsars.my friends are mystified when they see my screensaver, and i tentatively explain whats going on there.seriously though, this research is vital in our understanding of the laws of the universe...
p.s. is there a way we can see whats being analysed on our pc's?
thanks,steve

Welcome to E@H! Indeedy it is cool to participate, and real science too : note our new pulsar discoveries with attribution in the astronomical press. The current screensaver shows icons on the 'surface' of the celestial sphere denoting the sky position of the putative sources being analysed, the pulsar units have a 'power bar' on the top right in SETI style. To 'see whats being analysed' sort of depends upon what visualisation you expect. It's all signal analysis in the end, comparing a template/guess to a data stream. A bucket of maths really. We at EAH are part of a processing pipeline beginning at the collecting devices and ending at published documents which describe findings ( that process has a long tail ). I'm working on screensaver code based upon the current model - might have something by Xmas - which I hope will succeed in giving a more visual feel for astronomy in general and E@H's tasks/goals in particular. It'll be rather interactive and fun in a nerdy way !! :-) :-)

Cheers, Mike.
