Looking at my WUs, the most time the same other participants doing the same job. Why? I would expect changing computers doing different WUs. But I see again and again:
Owner Canes Venatici
Owner Yurik
Owner Jak
and only a few other guys doing the same job. Interresting, the time when the WU was sent is different.

Einstein sends out relatively large data files from which the individual work units are extracted. To miniminze the burden on the system, the internet and the connections, it assigns work units as much as is reasonably possible to hosts which already have the necessary data file.

Since you, and those other users, already have the data file necessary for the work units you're crunching, it will keep assigning them to the same users. Eventually, you'll get out of sync with each other or the data file will run out of work units - then you'll get a whole new set of people you'll likely see for a while.

Thank you for this explanation. That makes sense. I just wondered last week when I was out for 60 hours (Cebit) and when I came back to see the same partners, but before I left I gave my notebook enough to work.
