It's been in the low to mid 90's for nearly a week in Rockford, IL., about 80 miles NW of Chicago. But it's going to cool down into the high 70's by Thursday.
It seems like it has rained every day for the past two weeks in coastal Mississippi. Nothing ever dries out. Window exteriors are constantly covered with condensation from the high humidity. At least I don't have to worry about watering the lawn.
Ideas are not fixed, nor should they be; we live in model-dependent reality.
They keep calling for rain here in Coastal North Carolina but it only happens for an hour or so then the heat and muggys come out and it's back to normal Summer weather in the mid 80's to low 90's. Elsa went inland from me other than a couple of bands that came thru and it's going to get really muggy and hot with 100F degree feels like temps for most of the next 7 days along with temps in the upper 70's to low 80's at night. The a/c's will struggle to keep up!!!
Since you are all using Fahrenheit so will I. Temperature here in North Yorkshire is a warm mid fifties and will rise to a hot high sixties. We will complain of the heat.

Yep, mid 50's in a few miles away. Oh, that is in Celsius.

Once the normal heat wave of July in Kansas resumes I am going to be "resting" my BOINC computers during the middle of the day :(

I am in a condo until about Thanksgiving at least I think, builder swears otherwise then pleads delays when I ask for a date, with free electricity, well maybe not! We got an email from the owner the other day saying we were $50 above the 'expected amount' for the month but since he didn't point that out, it's on the last page of a 21 page lease agreement, he's willing to waive it this time. He gave an idea of what he wants but unfortunately that doesn't fit "us" as retired people...his 'guidelines" are things like 'thermostat turned up 78F when we leave the unit in the morning and then we can turn it back down to 75F in the evening when we return', the same guidelines apply to any other time we leave the unit 'for more than 30 minutes'. I don't think he thought of us as retirees, he never met us and went thru an Agency to rent the place, so today we went out and bought some fans to move the air better but it's STILL hot in here. Also we are both retired, which is how we afforded all of this, so leaving the unit for more than 30 minutes doesn't happen unless we are driving some distance away for something. This is a beach place and they are lots of stores within 10 minutes and it's usually pretty easy to get there and back within 30 minutes if we do it when the tourists aren't shopping.
My wife offered to pay the 'difference' between his "expectations" and reality from now on but he hasn't responded yet. Between you me and this wall here we are still saving over $1000 a month over living in a 2 story 4 bedroom home with an HOA etc.
