Does any one know how to adjust and under clock, normally you adjust the setting in Catalyst Control Center with out any problem. This card seems to just ignore what ever I do. So I wonder if I've missed something obvious or if there is something different (Not updated to this version of CCC on my other machines)
I noted that setting only take effect in high performance mode, but cant even see if its in high performance mode, which you think it would be crunching away.

To clarify it will let me over clock just not under clock.
From the look of the first few work units it is not looking good for validation.
Could of course be driver version etc.
Wanted to down clock it first and get stable validations before testing the limits.
This has got to be the most annoying computer I have ever built, went through 3 motherboards before working out the brand new power unit was faulty, so was the first motherboard (friend gave me the motherboard for free so couldn't complain about that) did not expect a new power unit to be faulty.
May well end up putting my old video card in that i know works, just so I can finish tinkering with it for a while.

I don't have that card, so this may not work for you, but Afterburner will allow me to downclock an R9 270X.
I just tried it. Catalyst 14.2 on that one.

I have noticed a similar issue with my R9 280X. It was working fine and I could over/down-clock it, but I think that since a certain Catalyst version (don't know which one exactly) this is no longer possible.
And I too need to reduce the GPU MemClock, because running @ 1500 MHz produces lots of invalids or hangs.
The problem is that if I set a certain clock it seems to work for a while, but after a reboot although this setting is preserved, however the GPU runs at the default clock. So for example default is 1500, I set it to 1250 MHz and after reboot CCC shows 1250 as the setting, but current clock is the default one (1500). So I have to set this again after each reboot to a different value (like 1245 or 1255) for the change to take effect. MSI AB didn't work for me either, but I haven't tried the latest version yet.

Well at lest it doesn't sound like its me.
Ive found one problem (bad ram), so will try again at running 3 tasks.
Hopefully I wont need to under clock it.
Seems daft that CCC lets you adjust the memory downward if it not going to take any notice of your setting.

I am not sure these invalids are to do with clock speeds, as the CPU times are way too long.
I see others have had problems running more than one task at a time on the R290X.
Going to see if an older CCC and drivers are any better.

Its been a while since ive updated AMD drivers, has anybody found that the latest ones are quicker. The last time i up dated from 13.4 it was slower, so have never updated my other machines.
