I have downloaded BOINC to a computer with a always on broadband internet link but it is unable to establish connection with any project. It is showing the error message : Localhost not found. It is also prompting me to re-enter the URL saying I have entered it incorrectly when in fact I am absolutely sure that it is correct. I am really fed up with this so please help me out.

"Localhost" is your own computer. Not anything on the internet, and not anything with a URL. Leave all the fields blank and hit OK, and it should work.
Here is a copy of info from Tony on this:
Beyond that, there is more than can be done, but it's very rarely necessary.

This indicates that your computer has connected to Einstein. Are you trying to attach another host? Or have you "lost" your connection since this one was attached originally?
One possibility is a problem that BOINC is occasionally having starting up on some computers - where BOINC Manager does not load the BOINC Client properly. If I remember correctly, the work around recommends that BOINC be removed from start-up and be loaded manually after the system is running. Test this by exiting BOINC (right clicking on the Icon in the Sys Tray) and then restart it.
Another thought is that it may be a firewall problem.

It is true that I am already connected to Einstein@Home. I have BOINC installed in my home computer with an ADSL broadband connection & it is running perfectly. But I am having this problem while trying to connect to projects from computers at my research institute.

I recommend that you explore the possibility that it is a firewall problem. Both BOINC Manager and boinc.exe need permission from the firewall to access the internet.

I have tried out all the suggestions. Still unable to connect to any project.Getting the following message:
Fetching config info from http:// einstein.phys.uwm.edu/get_project_config.php
Couldn't resolve hostname[einstein.phys.uwm.edu]
Couldn't resolve hostname[www.yahoo.com]
Also getting the following message on the connect to project dialogue box:
Project not found.
The URL you supplied is not that of a BOINC based project.
Please check the URL & try again.
I am pretty much sure that the typed URL is correct.Do anybody have any more suggestions?
RE: Couldn't resolve

When BOINC can't reach the project website, it tries Yahoo or Google - if it can't reach THOSE, then it is guaranteed to be a firewall problem on your computer, blocking BOINC from internet access (assuming you are posting from that computer; if not, it could be a total network issue).
As I am trying to connect

As I am trying to connect from one of many computers connected by LAN,I would like to know how to reconfigure the firewall? Or is it the system administrator only who can solve the problem?

I just realized that you now have two different threads going for this problem. I posted an answer on the other thread about 2 hours ago regarding proxies. To answer your question here, unless you can give us more specific information about your network and/or firewall, we can't help. Trying to talk with your system administrator sounds like the way to go.
