Navi cards do need to have

Navi cards do need to have PCIe atomics (according to the devs).

Make sure your slots are running at PCIe gen 3.0 (set it explicitly in the BIOS to be sure). I think a x8 slot should be fine though. you can always check for the atomics error too.

run the command "dmesg" in the terminal and look for a line like this:

kfd: skipped device 1002:7300, PCI rejects atomics

The EPYC is now on the workbench.  I was asked to send a pix of the socket to tech support. I see two possible "inconsistencies".  So I am suspecting the socket now.

sounds like a good thing to check ;)

how'd the CPU pins look? any bent? do you recall? PCIe devices all connect right to the CPU and will hence have pin connections from the PCIe slots into the CPU socket.
