I don't get it. I have all my machines set to NOT run while the computer is in use or on batteries.
On some like my iMac at work it's perfect, maybe a little pause in there but E@H is a perfect gentleman patiently waiting it's turn.
But my Macbook Pro it runs down the batteries and slows down everything.
My Ubuntu laptop is a proper gentleman but my Ubuntu desktop is a hog.
I have to go to each of these because they do not all have the same version. I know the iMac that works is Boinc 6.something on Lion and the MacBook is 7.something also Lion. I have to go see what the Ubuntu laptop is running but it's on Ubuntu 11.10. The desktop is 11.04 running 6.12.34. Guess which one I'm typing on.
Any clues would be greatly appreciated.

)
The Ubuntu 11.10 laptop is running Boinc 6.12.33.
Perhaps it's the Boinc version. I'll see if I can downgrade the desktop to 6.12.33. I've never had to go back so I'm not sure how easy previous versions are to find.

I think that would be a BOINC problem, not an Einstein one ;-)
Anyway, did you check your local preferences?

I guess I should send an email to the Boinc mailing list but Einstein is my only project and I was hoping one of you really smart people had already seen and solved it.
I have checked the preferences both locally and on the project page, these are all in the same "location" and activity is set to "run based on preferences" and "use based on preferences".
It's only really annoying on the laptop and the biggest problem is that I forget to allow processing when I'm done working on that machine.
Thanks for the suggestions.

Even if the local prefferences seem to be synchronized with the web ones, It may be worth to give a try to the "Clean" button for the local prefferences before going for reinstallations or other more complex things...
Ive read about people having weird issues with settings not working as intended that were fixed just doing the "cleaning"...

I'll give the cleaning and maybe the reinstallation a try.
Thank you.
It does seem like my problem not a Boinc bug at least not an always repeatable one.

)
I got some time to look into this while my wife prepares the Memorial Day barbecue. Since she's doing it all wrong, I have to stay out of it.
Clearing the preferences (on Ubuntu 11.04) didn't help but detaching from the project, deleting the BOINC folder in my home directory and loading Boinc 6.10.59 from the Ubuntu repositories did. Although I seem to have lost the ability to run multiple jobs on the GPU.
I don't know if going to the older version, running 1 GPU tasks, or just a reinstall fixed it. This used to be a 30K Credit/day system. It went down to about 24K when I had to suspend it and kept forgetting to reenable it, we'll see what it tops out at with these changes.
Thanks again for the help.

Well, I spoke too soon.
There does seem to be some as yet unidentified conditions that suspends operation - computer in use but it's not keyboard/mouse or compiling/debugging programs.
I searched the Boinc boards and found a similar thread. If I figure it out, I'll report back. Till then it's suspended when I start and resumed when I remember (which is not often enough).
