I have 2 PCs that were both running XP 32-bit and the 32-bit BOINC 6.36.

I crunched for Einstein@home and could see both screensavers AOK.

I upgraded my laptop to 64-bit Windows 7 RC and the 64-bit BOINC 6.36. It continues to function fine.

I upgraded my desktop to 32-bit Windows 7 RC (keeping the same 6.36 BOINC mgr). The Einstein screensaver graphics work but the text is all garbled and composed of weird looking symbols. It's completely unreadable. Tried this version of W7 on another work PC and got the same results. Over a little time, I've also noticed that W7-32 is much slower at crunching the work units.

I've noticed problems with other BOINC projects since this upgrade to W7-32 so its probably an incompatibility with something between the Einstein SS and Windows but it's odd that the 64-bit versions works fine!

And before anyone says it...Yes I want to use the screensaver. I only crunch for sites with working screensavers that give me running stats and some graphical representation of the project. I know it slows down the crunching and don't care. I know the speed problems may not be solved because that's likely the new OS but the fact the SS text won't display is something that could be tweaked to fix.

Thanks.......
