Due to my 14 year old mis-using my computer I have had to use a screen saver password to keep her from getting onto the computer. Now the screen saver does not come on. Is there a fix for this?

Thanks

Screen Saver Problems

What version of BOINC manager are you using and what OS are you using?

I thought I tested that with the latest alpha version (it's on the test matrix I'm pretty sure) and it worked ok.

Do other screen savers work ok with the password protect?

Ok. Well I can test it out

Ok.

Well I can test it out on my XP machine, but I don't have access to a Win 2000 machine.

It'll take me a bit as I have to set up to run the release client again.

I can't reproduce this, but

I can't reproduce this, but like I said, my compy has XP on it.

I think I know somebody who has a 2000 machine and I'll contact him.

What projects are you running?
How is BOINC installed (single user, shared, or service)?

Confirm for me that the BOINC screen saver is still selected in display properties (or the 2000 equivalent).

If you had the BOINC screen

If you had the BOINC screen saver set, and you installed a new version, and during that install, you did not specify BOINC to be your screen saver, you do not get a screen saver.

If you are installed as a service, the instructions for seeing the screen saver are available.

If you open the control panel, what screen saver is selected?

Now how do you want someone to test his screen saver when you also want to talk (text based) on Skype, John? ;-)

@ryk, I take it you checked the option "password protected"?
What this does is this: The screen saver will run and when you stop it, you need to log back into Windows.

Although I have Windows 2000 and can test this, there would still be differences in our set ups. So before I clean install 5.4.11, please answer me these:
1. Which video card do you use?
2. When you open Boinc Manager, Tasks tab, click on a running result, then click on the "Show graphics" button in the menu on the left, does a separate window open showing the actual graphics? (you may have to maximize the window as it's possible it opens in the task bar)
3. What was your daughter doing? (did she delete things, perhaps?)
