Maybe nobody else cares but I'd like to see the screensaver use less cpu so that my processes don't shut down when the screensaver kicks in. I want the cool looking sphere showing the neutron stars and the search location!

BTW, if you are listening,

BTW, if you are listening, screen saver writers, I am willing to devote an extra cpu to the screensaver whenever it is running to keep the process from usurping the actual work being done!

Pls don't tell me to do it myself. I am already snorkel deep in new learning so no, I can't.

This is the wish list, right?

How much CPU the (OpenGL)

How much CPU the (OpenGL) screensaver uses is pretty much up to the graphics driver. AFAIK NVidia does som polling / "busy waiting" with OpenGL & OpenCL on the CPU side to communicate with the graphics card. It's hard to get around that from the graphics app's end.

You may set your computing preferences to use one CPU (core) less than available for computing, so that a core is kept free for the graphics.
