It sounds like you've got a pretty nice setup with 10 Pi 3's, do you know how the Pi 3 performs compared to the 2B when it comes to E@H?

The Pi3’s are about 30% faster than a Pi2. Unfortunately they need active cooling when run as compute nodes. That is they need a heatsink plus some forced air. For mine I drilled a 38mm hole in the top of the official case and mounted a 40mm fan on top blowing air into the case. Power comes off the GPIO pins. Not the most elegant but it works. Details can be found at http://markjatboinc.blogspot.com.au/2016/04/mod-my-pi-case.html

Just been having a read of

Just been having a read of your BOINC blog, it's very interesting! :) I noticed that you got a couple of PiDrives too!

I've got two of the multi-Pi stackable cases for my cluster, with just one fan at the top which is pointing at a USB Block Erupter. I got a pack of mini AntMiner heatsinks which were perfect for the Pis.

I've never had temperature problems, although it is in the garage where it is naturally cooler.

I have unplugged and put away one of the PiDrives. Nothing wrong with it, it’s not really needed for a compute node. The other one is running fine on the support node. The support node runs a proxy server and also acts as a time server for the rest of the cluster.

Our team founder, KF7IJZ, has a YouTube channel with some videos about how he built his cluster and you can see what he did for stacking them. See https://www.youtube.com/user/KF7IJZ

I was going to try getting a 3D printed Pi case design to hold 4 Pi’s but have yet to convert some hand drawings into something that could be printed.

I purchased an RPI Zero W

I purchased an RPI Zero W recently and thought I would try it with EINSTEIN. I have two RPI4s already crunching but right away when I download a work unit I get computation error. Anything I could do to fix that?

Scott.

Unfortunately the Pi Zero uses an ARM v6 chip. The 1.47 app from the project needs ARM v7 or later (that’s the Pi2 or later).
