Hello everybody,

first sorry for posting the question here, but this is the most related project to pirates and their site is down/unreachable since 2 days.
On every connection attempt from BOINC it takes ages for the connection to time out.
So here is my main question:
Will pirates ever be back and do they still need volunteers? Cause if not, i would disconnect from pirates and greatly speed up the connection process of BOINC.

Aloha, Uli

It seems they are down again,

It seems they are down again, website and all. I was in there looking around the message boards this weekend, but the browser has been timing out all day, whenever I try to go there.

I don't think they are down permanently, since Eric and the rest did not say goodbye. Besides, he hinted there would be a big blowout that all of us would see and that there would be no way that we would not know that it was the end. I figure there is still a lot of testing to be done whenever BOINC or the Einstein clients are further optimized.

On the other hand I am anxious because I have a couple WU's upon which one of my PC's needs to report computation errors for the Starboard 4.03 application. Not sure how long they have been pending because I don't check that system very often. My laptop did not grab any work, so I did not notice them on the hub until this morning.

This seems ominous though...

Seems some bonehead hacked the website server. Eric is still in the process of upgrading the system, but the website is back up.

Maybe the same hackers now

Maybe the same hackers now got ProteinPredictor in their hands :/
The site and the scheduler are unreachable for > 12 hrs now...

@Einstein-Team: Be prepared! The BOINC systems are very similiar to each other...

Let's hope that this is not really a hacker attack at PP@H

Yes, but PP@H was already attacked 2 or 3 months ago. Their webserver was abused to engage a DOS attack on some website in south america. That time the server was unreachable too :O

I've never used Pirates, but

I've never used Pirates, but it did serve a very useful purpose. Anyone know if another projects will replace it?

in the last couple of weeks several "new" boinc projects emerged or opened
their door to allow new accounts.

Alt least the "grafical part" has been integrated to Einsteins grafics.

Outside of this, all the boinc projects developer are connected over
mailing list together, so the experience/knowledge/"how to do it better"
will be shared by all projects.

The spirit of pirates@home was unique.

I feel sad it's now offlined:(
