I have just installed Windows 10, on my general purpose laptop - Samsung N220 (Max 2048 MB RAB, installed). Apart from in running BOINC, I seem to be using 95% on RAM, nothing else seems to be running (which is probably my problem), I seem to be displaying a corrupted version of the screensaver - any idea what is wrong?

This link will take you to a screenshot of the screensaver -

Problems with "Einstein@Home" ScreenSaver, in using Windows 10

Hm, I think we've seen something similar a few years ago but couldn't really reproduce it or figure out the root cause. I'm afraid that we're currently low on resources to look into this as it would require a substantial effort to bring the screensaver's codebase up to date - which might solve the issue, or not.

Does anyone else see the problem on Windows 10? If so, it would give us at least a handle to start with...

Best,
Oliver

Mine was working then

Mine was working then something happened and now it only displays the BONIC name and says the screen saver is loading but never does so. Strange. I am running Windows 10. Perhaps it was an upgrade that caused the problem. I will investigate further.

I have the same problem on

I have the same problem on Windows 10. The screensaver was working only when I installed boinc but when I restart the computer it does not work. I tried to uninstall an re-install Boinc but I see the Boinc logo saying "screen saver is loading" but it loads only the task, non the celestial sphere with constellation and other objects.

It was there after installation of Boinc.

Unless you just like the pretty pictures using the screen saver actually slows down your crunching time. The cpu runs everything in your pc, it even manages the graphics cards, so if you are crunching and running the screen saver at the same time your cpu is managing both and not giving it's max time to your crunching. Most long time crunchers just set their screen to go blank or use the power button on it to turn it off when they walk away from it.

Well, here we are again...

I have had BOINC and Einstein @ home installed for years. Until recently, say a few months now, it has once again stopped loading the Einstein@home celestial sphere. I only get the BOINC logo with a message that the screen saver is loading. But it never does.

Any thoughts as to a fix?

Regards,

John

One problem could be that your antivirus is blocking all *.scr files by default now, way too easy to put viruses in them. Another problem could be the ongoing Windows 64 bit and Boinc being only 32 bit problem. They are rewriting Boinc as a 64 bit program but since the money stopped it's only volunteers now and things take much longer than they used to take.

I've got the same trouble. I

I've got the same trouble. I finally bought a new laptop and am stuck with WIN10. Ever since installing BOINC, I've had screensaver issues as well. On my old laptop with Win7, I never had any problems with loading them. Only since getting this new one. It also seems to be hit and miss, sometimes the Einstein sphere will load but mostly no. Just the box saying that it's loading. I've reloaded my graphics drivers and that didn't do anything. I know it doesn't need the screensaver to crunch its numbers, but it's just nice to have. :)

Just installed Einstein@Home

Just installed Einstein@Home on my Windows 10 laptop (have been running BOINC for decades with SETI@Home).  Also have E@H running on an old Windows XP machine.  On the later, the screen saver rotating sphere displays nicely, fits properly, and the data shown in all four corners can be seen.  On the Win10 machine though, the sphere is too big, overflowing the top and bottom sides of the display, and none of the corner stats can be seen because they are outside the margins of the screen.  I have checked the Screen Saver settings and nothing appears to be "off".  Have also checked my BOINC and E@H preferences and there doesn't seem to be anything not set properly there either.  Anyone else have this problem?  Is this a bug, or am I missing something?

06-24-19 6:07 PM EDT Addendum: Sizing issue does not occur under Windows 10 with SETI@Home, or Rosetta@Home screen savers.
