That is an excellent question.  It doesn't have a model # visible.  I got it with the original Intel server motherboard system I bought from a systems integrator "several" years ago.

The other answer is no the 3rd Gpu will not fit in a vertical position. It would end up touching the top of the 2nd gpu.

Since the goal was to run a "closed up case" it is not going to be suitable.

This is probably the case: https://www.phanteksusa.com/collections/cases/products/phanteks-enthoo-pro

Sigh.  Both the bedroom where I was testing it and the PSU all got pretty warm (local temporary warm day) it looks like I am going to install it on the mining frame while I wait for my money shortage (or the end of the month) to sort its way out.

What is a hybrid GPU?

A hybrid GPU is a GPU with a All In One (AIO) Liquid Cooler attached to the GPU Core and a shroud on the GPU typically with a Blower fan to cool the other components (VRAM, VRM etc.)

I've 5 RTX 2070 Supers which have a 120mm Radiator. The newer RTX 3000 series use 240mm cooler now:

Sounds a good idea.  When I looked up hybrid GPU, I found ones that seem to co-operate with the onboard graphics.  Can you buy them like that or is that a custom thing?

If this page takes an hour to load, reduce posts per page to 20 in your settings, then the tinpot 486 Einstein uses can handle it.

In general they are a bit of a niche product for those wanting the benefits of water cooling without the expense and maintenance of going full closed-loop and like All-in-One (AIO) CPU coolers they are not quite as performant as a closed loop and may suffer from the fluid slowly leeching from the loop.

But, in my case(es) the 2070 Super Hybrid cards run at a nice boost clock (1980MHz) with the GPU at 52-55C at a 170W Power-limit with a slight +50MHz over-clock and have been doing so for a couple of years 24x7x365. Though I did buy them on sale at only a slight increase in price over the twin-axial models.

NVidia Cards can be found from:

EVGA Sells the 3080, 3080ti, 3909 and 3090 Kingpin as Hybrid's

Gigabyte sells them as their "WaterForce" series

Sapphire has a 6900XT "Toxic"

EVGA also used to sell Hybrid kits to replace the existing cooler on select cards but I haven't seen any of these for the RTX3000-series.

The only reason I'd buy one

The only reason I'd buy one is for the cooling when loads of cards are close by.  But I'd probably just move the cards.  My crunchers are on a large deep bookshelf in the garage and most aren't even in cases (which apparently means I'm breaking some radio interference law hahahah!)

they have them, but only for the GA102 cards. 3080/3080ti/3090,  XC3 and FTW3 respectively.

personally I don't think the hybrid cards are suited for BOINC crunching if you do it 24/7. the cheap pumps that are used fail pretty often. Keith has gone through this issue several times on his hybrid cards. EVGA is good about RMAs, but it's still inconvenient.

Done.  And the gpus are running much cooler.

I don't like any water coolers.  A Corsair pump lasts 2 or 3 years even without Boinc.  Not sure Boinc makes a difference, as doesn't the pump just run all the time?  It's not variable like a fan.

I did once have a very nice watercooler while it lasted.  Zero fans.  Huge tall water tower covered in fins.  Connected it to PSU cooler too (which I made myself).  Failed to cool some other components in there and got an explosion.

Interesting what you say about Folding at Home.  I was told over there you need more lanes than Boinc projects, and also more lanes for GPUGrid.  I was assuming biology projects tended to have more data flowing to and from the CPU?

I love the word bifurcated (and even trifurcated).  These words should get used outside of astrophysics, eg. Glaswegian accent: "See you?!  If you do that again, I'll bifurcate yer skull so I will!"

Windows tends to have higher PCIe utilization than Linux for Folding@Home. Likely something to do with how it (mis)manages Contention for the bus. I found testing under Linux that only when you get up to a RTX2080Super do you start to see a degradation in performance using a x4 connection rather than a x8 or x16.

The x1 USB risers used for mining will tank your production in Folding for all but really low end GPUs especially under Windows so I don’t have any experience using them but they seem fraught with issues. My biggest concern with them is their use of SATA power connectors with under sized wire for the 75W PCIe power. I’ve seen many reports of people having them melt and one of our participants in a recent Folding contest had one of his rigs catch fire taking out itself and an adjacent system.

Ah, the Glaswegian accent. I remember visiting there the first time in ‘84 and going for Curry and Chips on Sauckihall? and ordering a pint of Guinness and a nip o’malt then noticing all the locals were drinking Budweiser and smoking Marlborough’s - very strange.
