Am I correct in saying that this procedure requires the use of the Raspberry Pi OS? Formerly known as Rasparian, i.e. Ubuntu would not support this procedure.

I just purchased an Odroid-N2+ w/4 gb. Unfortunately they are a new product and wont be available until lat(er) October. You can see it here and here. I did some reading and there was discussion about support for OpenCl. Not exactly sure what this implies but this might be of interest. Read the second paragraph from "lazio".
It comes with a monster heat sync, but you will also need to get the fan to "encourage" additional cooling. Also recommend emmc rather then sd and for those not accustomed to Odroid you can buy emmc modules in 1. various sizes and 2. with preinstalled operating systems i.e., android, linux.
I did an experiment on my Pi3's. I put the "beta" Rpi OS 64 bit and the optimized aarch64 app on one.
Running 4 x tasks at a time it takes 19.5k to 20.5k seconds (elapsed) per task, which is still much better than the 1.47 app (around 43k seconds). CPU time compared to elapsed was between 100 and 1k difference.
I then dropped to 3 x tasks and its now around 16k seconds elapsed. Also CPU time compared to elapsed is much closer (around 15 to 20 seconds).
Top says the optimized app wants 209 MB of virtual memory and BOINC wants 107 MB. With 4 tasks plus BOINC and whatever else the OS needs running its just that little bit too much to fit in the 962 MB that it has available.
I have the same results. The Pi3's and Pi3+'s just can't handle more than three tasks. One doesn't handle more than 2. The increased memory on a Pi4 can take 4 tasks easily.
Today I added an Odroid N2+ to my computer list (computer ending in 5703). This is relatively new SBC which is in high demand but with little inventory. While it has built in GPUs like the Pi4 there is no support for distributed projects that I can discern but I will keep looking. CPU crunching is supported through N30DG's efforts. You will require this "patch to crunch. Its a 2 line cut/paste so not too difficult.
The average runtime/cpu time is ~6300.
Of note: the cooling fan will not activate unless the unit reaches a specified temp.
What might one expect from a Raspberry Pi 400 with regards to workunits from E@H? Might pick up a few to replace some of my old Dells (Intel G630 CPUs). How might they benchmark comparatively?
