Message 6725 in response to message 6723

how do i use signatures? and what do i have to do to send my project info to wherever it needs to go?

Most of the off-site stats pages have them in store, some teams as well. (I linked to the Seti pages, because they have more accurate links to these pages then Einstein)

My left banner is a realtime one, based on the wap-output of the projects. It has the advantage of being realtime, with the disadvantage of schowing nothing when the project servers are down, and the ranking is not included in this stats. nevertheless, the link is here.

To include them in your sig, you may have to use tinyurl.com to shorten the link.
You also have to use html-tags like this:

wich will lead to this:

I can't "attach to new

I can't "attach to new project" with the correctly
cut & pasted URL and a/c id (no spaces, works on
website ;-)

Noticed that my list of computers is empty (even
though my prefs say "show list"). Don't know if
this is related to the problem...

Message listing follows; notice "Master file fetch
failed"; do I need to set the HTTP/SOCKS proxies in
the Options if I'm behind a corporate firewall?

Have tried repeatedly to

Have tried repeatedly to connect to a project, but have been unsuccessful. I have my account key, downloaded the BOINC Software, and the BOINC logo shows up on my screen saver. The screen saver message reports that no project has been attached. I have the project URL but yet I'm missing something. It is probably obvious... but, this high school physics teacher is unable to see what I've missed. What am I doing wrong?

Have you registered with Einstein (or other projects) in addition to registering with BOINC? These are separate registrations and you get different account keys.

'... in addition to registering with BOINC' is misleading. You need to download the BOINC software, then register separately with each BOINC PROJECT, for example Einstein@home, SETI@home, etc.

I WAS NOT thinking clearly - you are obviously registerd with Einstein, otherwise, you couldn't have posted on the Message Board.

I greatly appreciate the

I greatly appreciate the helpful responses. I have downloaded the BOINC software and have not registered with BOINC. I go to the Berkeley BOINC website and see nothing about registration. How do I register with BOINC?

What I have tried is attaching to a project by double clicking on the BOINC icon on my desktop. This installs boinc which ultimately asks me to enter the project URL "einstein.phys.uwm.edu" and my account key all 32 characters. The einstein at home project is briefly displayed on a table then goes away. Nothing happens, no celestial sphere on the screen saver... Does this sound like a BOINC registration problem?

I have waited to begin this einstien@home project with a new computer a Dell laptop Pentium M processor 1.6GHz 512 MB memory with 80G hard drive, so I hope I have enough computing resources. I spend most of my time online via dial-up but we do have a faster T1-line connection at school.

I am just a high school teacher trying to learn about the gravity wave research to better explain the interferometers to my high school students.

Thanks for making this sort of research accessible to the public.
