Let me talk briefly about a very useful app that runs on your smartphone.  It allowed me to "move" a couple of WIFI cameras off of the broadcast network called MYOLDWIFINet to the new network name broadcast by the new gateway router called NEWWIFI.  You do have to move the cameras close to the new router.  You then change the SSID on the camera to point to NEWWIFI and modify the static info.  IP cameras need static addressing because the app I use does not deal with DHCP addressing on IP cameras.  The app I am referring to is called V380S which is available from the "Play Store".  I should point out that my cameras unlike others have no ethernet connection.  Just  power source and a reboot button.

Some of you might find this app useful.

All but one of cameras are wired so that won't help me, but only having to mess with one is doable.

My problem is the security company set it up thru pppoe and I have no clue how to do that when I change routers. My local cable company won't let me make changes to the settings in their router so I have to use my own instead. My next one will probably be a different brand, the best one always changes from brand to brand as each tries to outdo the others from year to year so any settings probably won't be transferable.

Interesting.  I have full access to my ISPs router/gateway.  I always keep hard copy changes of the pages in the router so upgrading to a new router is easy.

Yeah I had full access to my last companies router too, this one just won't. For instance they switched using larger packets and my speed was half what it should be but once I changed my router settings BOOM I was up to full speed again. I called them about it and they said 'not our problem', when I asked if I could get it changed on their router they said 'nope'. Meaning they would happily charge me for higher speeds than what they could provide me!!
