Hello,
Today I updated one of my pc’s to Boinc 6.6.20 for windows. Running Vista Ultimate 32bit,SP1.
After start-up the messages enrol and eventually the message: No CUDA devices found. However Einstein@Home is currently not using CUDA, but just in case.
It has 2 nVvidia 8600GTS cards with each 512Mb RAM. Accordingly to nVidia this is a CUDA enabled card. Does anyone know what is/could be the problem?
Thanks.
Greetings from
TJ

Hi,
did you install the latest NVIDIA drivers?

Also, be aware that BOINC can't use CUDA under Windows Vista if BOINC is installed in 'service' ('Protected Application Execution') mode.
If you see a line like "Running as a daemon" amongst your startup messages under Vista (or Windows 7), you won't be able to use CUDA. Windows XP doesn't have this restriction.

Thanks so far for your input.
In recording to the answer of Michael, I have installed the latest drivers last week.
In the older versions when I used XP I saw the various ways to install Boinc but now it seems to handle all automatically. Where can I see this and/or make a change?
I did not see the message:“Running as a daemonâ€

See The BOINC Wiki. There's also a video at The BOINC FAQ Service.

Okay thans, Gundolf.
I did not know it was that easy, then I did it properly automatically.
I did not install Boinc in Service, and have updated the drivers.
Could it be the problem then of 2 cards installed, this seems not likely however.
Any more ideas?

Perhaps you can find some valuable information on the SETI@home CUDA or Number crunching fora (even if you don't crunch for them :-) or at Ageless's CUDA FAQs.

If that's the case, what ge GPUgrid use?
Vista64, boinc 6.5.0 installed as a service, GPU grid running.
I have read the treat

I have read the treat “Einstein support OpenCL?†and if I have understood it correctly then BOINC version 6.6.20 has difficulties with CUDA. It does not see any coprocessors.
However as CUDA is not jet in affect with Einstein@Home there is no hurry for me to solve it at this time. When I install a new machine, I will install an older version.

Paul Buck has done lots of testing and found that version 6.5.0, like Dan uses, is the best overall for cuda use.

This is not true. I have CUDA cards on two separate systems that are each dedicated to S@H and running 6.6.20 BOINC. BOINC has absolutely no problems recognizing the CUDA cards. Alway be sure to install the latest nVidia drivers.
The main problem I have with those systems is that if a bunch of WUs are downloaded with a short deadline I have see where the active WU will be suspended and the one just downloaded will be started. This can happen even if the one just downloaded has a deadline a few seconds earlier than the one just suspended. This is not unique to 6.6.20 as I've seen it occur with earlier BOINC releases as well.
Seti Classic Final Total: 11446 WU.
