Damn, I hate Intel for swaying Apple on the switch...!!!

You might also blame Motorola and IBM, for failing to meet Apple’s requirements …

Here's an intersting story on that subject. Apple shunned superstar chip start-up for Intel

Wow, a 2 ghz dual-core that uses only 7W. That is quite a feat.

There are 10^11 stars in the galaxy. That used to be a huge number. But it's only a hundred billion. It's less than the national deficit! We used to call them astronomical numbers. Now we should call them economical numbers. - Richard Feynman

So far so good. Running on

So far so good. Running on three 7450's, eight valid results and two pending, no errors. I can't give you a comparison with the "stock" cruncher because BOINC had previously stopped sharing apps and was running exclusively SETI for some reason, but at least the results appear to be good and that's what it's all about.

Hopefully soon I'll get time to finish my EyeMac LCD project and test it on a G3.

Thanks Bernd!

I just had a result fail

I just had a result fail validation. It’s possible the problem had something to do with the recent outage—that host took a week to resume contact afterward—but I thought I’d mention it here anyway. The output includes a [pre][CRITICAL]: APP DEBUG: Application caught signal 15.[/pre] message.

I am running 4.56 0n my Dual

I am running 4.56 0n my Dual 2.0 Gig PowerMac G5.
I cannot see any marked increase in times ... but that is probably because I am quite capable of installing the App upside-down!!!
N E Ideas?

Strangely enough the 4.56 App

Strangely enough the 4.56 App doesn't show the same speedup on G5s than it does on G4s. We are looking into this.

Many thanks BM ... You are right ... my G4 (1.0 Gig) has shown a marked change ... whilst the G5 ... weeell, it seems to be - if anything - a wee bit slower than it was using the stock standard App.

But thank you for your work and assistance ...

Ok, the issue with this App

Ok, the issue with this App on G5 (and early G4) has finally been resolved. Now having found it, I'm more surprised about the speedup on G4 than about the slowdown on G5 - pretty weird. Anyway, I made a new App, read about it here.
