Longtime Windows Einstein@Home participant, trying Linux for the first time. I am running Ubuntu Dapper Drak, and set up the 5.4.9 version of Boinc. It attaches fine to the project and works (have already completed 1 wu).

Problem is 2 fold:

1) In BOINC manager, Activity option the Run always, Run based... and Suspend radio buttons...none are checked and doesn't allow me to check any. The network buttons work fine.

2) Screensaver doesn't run, nor does the graphics button show up, nor does the screensaver show as an option in the System->Preferences->Screensavers menu

It is an Nvidia GeForce FX5200 and based on its ability to run some games I believe it is correctly configured.

Any help will be appreciated greatly.

This just looks like a display problem. They seem to work. (Just checked.)

Make sure you installed the latest NVIDIA drivers. All I can say it works for me (SUSE 9.3; GF 6200TC; v7676). You could unhide your computers so we can check the error message.

3) The update button is broken.

Do you have the nvidia

Do you have the nvidia driver? I believe it is up to 8776. To be specific the driver installer is called NVIDIA-Linux-x86-1.0-8776-pkg1.run. There is a HOWTO package that you can download that will guide you through the process of configuring the xorg.conf file.

Hope this helps.
