Hello All!
Seems like seti is having some bigtime server problems and its possible that it could happen here so I guess I better post this here too.
I know this one has been asked many times but.....when the servers are down and you finish a wu on time but cant be u/l before the dealine expires what happens to the wu? I was able to u/l 3 wu for seti this weekend but theres still one more to go but the dealine is tommorrow and it my pc keeps backing off. Is there anyhting I can/should do to help it along?
My kids love the SETI and Einstein screensavers but they have questions ( you know kids! ) that I cant answer. Can someone point me to a good site that explains all the details so I can at least look like I know what Im talking about the next time the kids start in with the questions?? Thanks!!

If the server is having problems generally late work will be ok. The processes that delete old work are not running so your late work has almost as good a chance of getting validated as if it was turned in on time.
http://einstein.phys.uwm.edu/starsphere.php will give you more info on the screensaver.

The file deleter will not be deleting work for any WU that has not met quorum yet. Assuming that your result is returned before the replacement is sent out and returned, you will participate in the verification process.

They were having a prob with
)
They were having a prob with power outages in the building where their servers are run, per SETI's technical notes page. There had also been issues with the servers not talking with the UPS's, so for time there they have been keeping the DB server offline till they got this working sufficiently enough to prevent unhealthy shutdowns of the DB server everytime the power at Berkely went down...
They were at least for a time keeping the dBase server up during certain times of the day (when they were there) and taking it down at night. People are right though, you might want to take SETI probs to their forums (if they aren't down, which they have been at times due to the dBase being taken offline)/check their status pages...
BTW, all is running now as of this post, though getting new WUs, the number isn't very high right now
