Hi, I have a 3-year old PC with a so-called "2.26 GHz" Intel CPU that gets 1133 FP-mops and 2211 I-mops. I have an older "1.2 GHz" AMD that gets 1107 FP-mops and 1887 I-mops -- almost the same. I was surprised to see that the Intel is not much faster than the older AMD.
BTW, I just recently found out about E@H (saw it in Scientific American) and hooked up the old AMD that had been in my attic (true) unused for more than two years. It's now banging away.
Any-hoo, there's a whole great big bunch of info on CPU performance of many different processors at E@H. But it's spread out among the details of many users' computers.
I'm now looking at the Dell Outlet store for a new system. It would be very helpful if there was a CPU performance chart -- FP-mops & I-mops -- in one place so that I could use to compare actual performance. I of course realize that tight loops of flops is neither the only, nor the best, measurement. But it's definitely one measurement I shouldn't fail to consider.
Is there such a chart at E@H? Thanx.

Gonna get a new PC -- would like CPU performance info

well, don't be. I', a PC manager for a medium sized company. It's common knowledge in the industry that AMD *way* outperforms Intel.
One columnist said that "any manager who buys intel should be fired. Not because that decision causes great damage, but bcause it reflects remarkable ignorance of the industry."
well look somewhere else. Look up "dell hell" in google. my own parents believed the "dude" guy on TV rather than me, and they ended up mailing theirs back to texas.
The local computer store will give you personal advice and will help you instead of paying a kkid in pakistan to read help instructions from a list.
