Is it possible to request only gpu tasks from e@h? I did all the settings, set it as nvidia gpu only and only have the applications with gpu at the end selected but it still spams me with cpu tasks like Gamma Ray Pulsar Search #5 despite it not being selected in "Run only certain applications. Please help.

Remember to set 'Use CPU' to

Remember to set 'Use CPU' to NO and 'Allow non-preferred apps:' to NO. And of course note that you make the changes to the location you have your computer set to (Generic/Home/Work/School).

Also set "Run test

Also set "Run test applications?" to NO.

But most importantly, make sure you are setting preferences for the "location" (aka venue) that is actually applicable to your machine.

Any preference you set is for one location (generic|home|school|work).

If the one you are adjusting is not the one for your machine, nothing useful happens.

That fixed it! Thank

That fixed it! Thank you!

Also related question, are all the applications cpu based with the exception of the ones with a "gpu" tag in the name? Or are some them also designed for using gpu?

What applications should I run?

specs:

intel core i7-4770 3.40 ghz

gtx 1060 6b

24 gb ram

The only GPU app that currently has work suited to your GPU is the gamma-ray pulsar search (FGRPB1G).  The O3ASE GW search was also for GPUs but that work is finished.  There should be a replacement search using the 'real' O3 data at some point soon.  The O3ASE run was an 'Engineering' test run using simulated data only.

The easiest way to find suitable GPU apps for discrete GPUs like yours is to consult the applications page and note which versions have 'opencl' in the version string.

You should also check the server status page to see which searches actually have work available.  You will see O3ASE listed with zero tasks.  The abbreviated 'Plan Class' names used as headings for the tasks columns on the status page are also given in brackets for the full search names used on the applications page.

Cheers,
Gary.

The bottom one "Gravitational Wave search O3AS Engineering" is also a gpu project but there are not very many tasks right now as we wait for them, we think, to be sent over from the"O3 LIGO dataset". We were doing test tasks but  they have dwindled down to nothing. Expect an announcement when the new tasks start flowing.
