Hi,

hmmm i just update Videodriver 12.6 and Boinc .28. I have a HD 6970 and new app is running... but after 40 minutes i have only 6% ready. ????
I set "GPU utilization factor of BRP apps" to 0.5 but doesn't have any effect.. only one unit is running...

The "GPU utilization factor of BRP apps" option will only affect jobs downloaded after the setting was applied.

The performance is not normal. You can try to reserve one CPU core for the graphics app, by telling Boinc in the preferences to Use not all of the cores for CPU jobs: e.g. on a quad core , set it to use 75% of the cores.

You think it's the same shit

You think it's the same shit as Poem@home ??? I want to crunch Einstein on my GPU... not on my GPU + a CPU... with Milkyway it's no problem...

OK performance is better

OK performance is better now... but now 2 units are running and they use 2 CPU cores with 25%... how can i get them using only one CPU core.. with 50% ??

I understand that MW@H has both CAL and OpenCL apps. Is the above true for their OpenCL app as well? I was assuming that this is a general OpenCL related problem.

Einstein-Ati-GPU setting

Einstein-Ati-GPU setting
0.500000
1.000000

Then 2 GPU-Wu simultaneously need 2 cores to be supported

Had "GPU utilization factor

Had "GPU utilization factor of BRP apps = 1", because the Atis (HD 57xx/67xx 1GB) with a GPU Wu even at a load factor of about 80% (GPU-Z) lie. Of course one core is supporting the GPU.

Your HD 6970 works with Atiapplication "Binary Radio Pulsar Search (Arecibo) v1.25 (opencl-ati-6900)".You find your own app version there >>>
C:\ProgramData\Boinc\client_state.xml (Win7/64 bit/Boincstandardinstallation).

Unsure if this post belongs

Unsure if this post belongs here but its about validate errors?

I'm starting to get "completed, marked as invalid" tasks, total 10 now in 2 weeks and only with opencl ati tasks. I've noticed a certain other commonality that the users getting the quorum valid results are all Nvidia cuda machines, no other opencl ati's were used on these tasks.

My machine appears stable, PSU volts show correct under load, GPU temps are around 40~45 C (opencl = about 50~60% load), CPU is 45~50 C. Have run stability tests; Sis Sandra, AMD etc a number of times. SiS shows GPU's stable at a large overclock (that I'm not using);I have serious cpu, gpu and case cooling because the ambient here in summer is often 40~ c (or more). No aftermarket cooling & regular dust maintenance = computer fry quick-smart.

Is opencl ati showing odd potential problems else where? Is Boinc 7.0.28 showing any low level problems with opencl ati? In retrospect I've noticed the dates with the problem approximately coincide with coming from version 7.0.27 (Beta?).

The amount of validate errors will easily exceed 20 in short order at the rate I'm being allocated these tasks.

I run Nvidia with Boinc

I run Nvidia with Boinc 6.12.33 and validate fine against AMD with Boinc 7.0.28 as seen here
So it's not a general problem.

Hi guys, This is my first

Hi guys,

This is my first day crunching this and I have a few questions:

a. I managed to setup two work units to run on the GPU at once, is this most optimal or should I setup 3?

b. I turned off all CPU Only crunching as I only want to crunch on my HD7970, do I need to somehow force the application to use one core only for maximum performance? My CPU usage is very low at about 5% - 15% is this normal?

c. So far I have completed 4 Arecibo v1.24 work units (2 at a time). On average it took them 1800sec to complete, does that seem like the right performance for crunching on an overclocked HD7970?

My system is a , HD7970@1300MHz, Z68(PCIE2.0),8GB@1866Mhz, software (Win 7x64, Cat12.6, BOINC 7.0.28)

Thanks for your help :)

P.S. How long does it take for completed work units to be validated? there are no errors reported but I hope the managed to complete all OK.
