Just wondering how is it possible to be granted more credit for a work unit than the claimed credit for it. I have received more credit (granted credit) for a number of work units than the claimed credit. What's going on here?

Credits.

Short explanation is you need at least three to validate, when this happens you throw out the high and low score and use the middle, which may be higher, lower or the score you posted....

What's going on is an act of discourtesy to other users. Your question is completely answered by the 9th and 10th questions in the FAQ list whose link is on the front page of the website. Please have the courtesy to at least read the FAQ before posting FAQs here. You would also find it useful to consult the Wiki as suggested by Paul Buck in his reply to another post of yours five days ago.

Cheers,
Gary.

Credits may also some times

Credits may also some times be adjusted manually long after they are "awarded", by the administrators. Hopefully always upwards :-) .

Lots of things.

Walter, we have tried to answer most questions in the Wiki. When you see something that you do not understand you can look at the explanations we have on paper to start. In this case you were interested in Granted Credit, using that as a spring board into the content with a search would get a quick answer. Now, the problem is that your question may not be directly answered by the content in that specific definition.

This is where the extensive linking comes into play. You then need to follow all of the links for the terms that you do not know ... and to be honest, if you have not already read all of the term's definitions I will submit that you don't really know what, for example, the term Credit may seem so obvious as to not need reading. But, there is likely more meat than you suspected. So, in this case, it would have useful to read it as it does contain the information you were looking for.

I did, also, make an update to "Granted Credit" to also point you to the most up-to-date rule list. If, the definitions don't help, then ask ... :)

As it is obvious, there are many very common questions that we have spent considerable time documenting so, the questions that always arise are written down. We also have a BOINC FAQ and other FAQ for some of the other projects too ...

I have a question for this

I have a question for this thread, I just subscribed, so it may have been answered already.

When I look at my team page, my computers have about 8000 credits and my friend who is the other half of the team has around 4000 credits but the total for the team listed above is about 1200 less than the sum of our credits and then on the "Top Teams" page we have even less than that.

The Seti pages are all correct, but Einstein is not. Why would this be?

Teams normally only get credit from users while they are a member of the team. That may be part of it. The big thing, especially with the different totals on different pages, is probaly a caching artifact.
