Update: With the first WU

Update: With the first WU about half done, it looks more like about 15 hours than 18 (AMD Athlon 3500+, no overclocking). I'll keep you updated and soon I'll fill the results into my chart to see how much credit/hour I get compared to the previous run.
Svenie: Can't help you there, first time I'm using the new BOINC core client...

Is it normal, that the progressbar goes forward only in steps and not countinously like by S5R2?

Yes, this is normal. Progress is measured in "sky positions" that the app looks on. In S5R2, each task performed a search over the whole sky, divided into roughly 70000 sky positions, but would spend only a second or seconds (depending on your CPU speed) for each position. In S5R3, there are (roughly) 800 -1000 skypositions per task, but the app spends longer searching at each position.

Bottomline: less clicks to indicate progress, but more work done per click. The same will be observable in the "screensaver" view: the crosshair will move much more slowly.

That's the same as one of my machines, which has not yet received the new units!

I was figuring the new units might take about that long, because the S5R2 units took 33 hours and the new units are reportedly taking about half as long! :)

That makes sense, because this S5R3 analysis is taking a "deeper" look into the conformational (or computational?) space. :)

Thanks a lot for this answer. Explains some more things than I asked. ;)

Interesting :-D so, guys, how big are they? The same as S5R2, since they use the same datafiles? Or different? Any problems so far?
It will probably be a while until I get one myself, unless I'm lucky when I'll reattach my desktop today or tomorrow. But I increased the res share on my laptop a bit aswell, just in case...

I have not started it yet, but it says it will take just under 15 hours. the S5R2 ones (650cr) usually take between 32 and 33 hours on my computer, so it's probably about half the size

I've finished it now, it took about 11.5 hours to complete, so just over a third of the S5R2 units. got 220 cr for it, so thats just over a third of 650 too

Looks like your recent average on S5R2 for that host was 182 CPU seconds per cobblestone, while your one S5R3 is 185, or about a 2% reduction in pay rate.

That certainly is well within the plus or minus 5% range that Bernd is aiming for! :)

Just finished my first S5R3,

Just finished my first S5R3, if claimed credit is correct its considerably slower than R2.

R3: 28,981.95 sec - 219.42 credits
R2: ~ 71,000 sec - 634.75 credits

If my math is correct, that is about a 15% decline per unit time for the new R3 units.
